We needed a Dier replacement in the summer crying like a bitch all summer saying we need someone to bring out the best of Romero. Romero isn’t the leader of the 2 cbs…he needs class next to him to elevate him and the position. Plus what formation would have prevented a Lloris brain fart x2? These players are ****

Wont quote you Paul because that’s a ****show on executing quoting skills…right up there with some of the best **** ups I’ve seen anyway to answer your post You’ll rarely see me blame refs because ultimately the incompetent ref isn’t required if Lloris doesn’t do what we all know Lloris is capable of every game for me…it’s always a sigh of relief when we get to the end of a game and Lloris has kept his composure throughout as our captain and goalkeeper.
That’s the first time he's been properly ghosted by so far since joining. Dier’s dropped two awful performances in a row and been beaten throughout the season, Romero’s been ghosted by a number of times this season too. It won’t be the first nor last time, it happens, especially as Conte’s making us sit far too deep and invite pressure all the time. Lenglet’s probably been our best performing CB so far and he’s comfortably the best passer too.
I don’t think a top class CB solves much at the moment to be honest. We’re sitting back for 95% of the game to the point that regardless of how good they are we’ll likely still concede, law of averages says so. We’re not attacking anywhere near enough and so goals aren’t gonna come. This reserved bollocks Conte’s gone with this season isn’t working against any half decent team. No way do Newcastle have a better team than us yet Howe had them playing like they’re the top four hopefuls and we’re the team that had survived relegation last season. Conte’s royally ****ing up at the moment, he’s more to blame than almost any of these players. Persists with Emerson, persists with defensive, turgid football, makes defensive subs when we’re 2-1 down, is running the same players ragged then moaning when they’re getting injured saying “they’ve played so much”… it’s all nonsense to be honest. Not the same manager that turned our season around last year.
we had 17 shots yesterday…only 5 on target I think Conteball creates chances I also think our conversion rate is poor…that’s where our elite players are letting us down because they are not using the ball affectively enough. Im seeing a mentality thing….we always sit back…regardless of manager it seems. We were getting trounced every week at the end of Poch’s swashbuckling reign also. I just think our top players are not as top when it comes to mentality and that just spreads throughout. Our top 2 in everyone’s list will be Kane and Son…both are not big game…time to roll up sleeves kind of men. If that’s the thinking of our best then anyone coming in, regardless of their past successes will be consumed by the heights of our best most coveted. I think our top players don’t do their job well enough imo…good stats from Kane without a doubt it’s not always about that. It’s about moments…and smelling blood. That’s why teams like Forest can beat teams like Pool sometimes…mentality. They want to be our Gladiators they need to start thinking like it or they will forever be also rans till they hang up their boots. Conte isn’t being brave enough himself with team selection though…but he’s not crossing the white line…the players do and like I said…chance situations are definitely created by us but the moves don’t come to much real threat due to the thinking of our attackers in that moment.
A large number of those shots were hopeful long ones though, Son had about 4 of his own where he tried scoring from unusual positions, I know he has it in him to hit the spectacular but it’s not something a player can do every game. We barely tested Pope yesterday so I don’t think we’re creating enough clinical chances, not like we were last season anyway. I think Kane especially gets an unfair knock when it comes to big games. He’s the leading scorer in NLD history, leading scorer in London derby history and has put in some monstrous displays (vs Arsenal many times, City last season was one of the best I’ve ever seen etc) and scored crucial goals in times of need but gets pelters thrown at him by our fans in some of the games he doesn’t turn up in. Realistically he can’t be the only one to turn up in a big game all the time. Even Messi/ Ronaldo needed their teammates to take charge at times. I do agree we have a poor mentality in general though with regards to big games and I think players and managers share equal blame on that. Poch made some bizarre formation and selection decisions (Son at LWB vs Chelsea in semi final of FA Cup ) whilst Conte’s made some really uninspiring selections and tactics. I don’t think Conte’s got us playing as he did last season, we were unreal on the counter and also took charge of certain games, this season it’s just been “sit back and hope Kane scores”, he’s ruining Son at the moment too by making him play too close to Kane, I know one or two on here have said Perisic is/ was the cause for Son’s poor form but Sess has started a number of games too and Son’s been poor in most of them as well, I think this central positioning is massively ruining his game. Kane’s also suffering though, he’s scoring at a higher rate but he’s nowhere near as good from a team perspective this season and I think that’s because he’s been playing too high up so he isn’t able to feed Son (or others) with those through balls he’s capable of. To me that’s on the manager’s tactics.
Passmap time please log in to view this image I'll lead with the obvious question: Why in the name of all that is eldritch is Skippy playing as a winger? Lucas replacing him with 25 minutes to go shouldn't affect the map in that was The entire midfield is a mess, as it's sitting too deep and the passing lines are nightmare fuel, as the crossfield balls from Emerson to Sessegnon being so often they've left a trail, which is especially weird as Kane is dropping deep yet tracking to the right due to Newcastle overloading our left flank please log in to view this image Add to that how our maps are already looking identical in matches against teams who press our midfield and especially Bentancur, as there's nothing through the middle and we're herded out to the WBs - WBs who are playing deep due to us sitting back, and you can guess how that works out Realistically we needed somebody to break Newcastle's press, and Man Utd and Arsenal also showed we need somebody to break opposition presses - which Bissouma can do in much the same way Dembele could, but due to being so deep...anyone drawing up rules for a drinking game yet?
Fatigue. Not just us but all the teams playing in Europe. This season is just not acceptable. This weekend: Liverpool lose to Forest. Woolwich drop points to Southampton. We lose to Newcastle. All of those teams have played 4 fewer games and we are only in October. Chelsea midweek drew with Brentford who shipped 4 against Villa. We are going to continue to see crazy results. Unless you have 2 first team squads ( City ), then you can't continue at this pace. We started well yesterday and just run ourselves dry. We have to start certain players because we haven't got decent back up for them and they are cream crackered. And then they will play in Qatar while The City wonder boy relaxes for the second half of the season.
Add to that we're getting a return to the "Conte can't play two games in four days" Narrative from last season
The managers have my sympathy this season. but : 1. Conte is not alone on this 2. Several PL managers would no doubt like to have his current squad, to be able to rotate the starting XIs to get players to the WC 2022 line without tempting fatigue injuries etc.
Which also takes us right back to the question of rotation, because if players can't play two Conte games in the space of five days then surely it makes sense to have fresh players come into some key positions
