If Wilson plays the ball first instead of Hugo, they are getting a free kick and Lloris is probably sent off. The bottom line is Wilson did not play the ball and impeded Lloris, which in my book is a foul. That doesn`t excuse Lloris trying to control the ball rather than putting his foot through it mind.
Wilson just runs into Lloris and pushes him. That's 100% a foul on an outfield player, nevermind a goalkeeper. Total lack of consistency and I'd be shocked if you could find another PL goal like that. Tim Sherwood's Gillet was ****ing awful and we should send him back to Neighboursland. Their timewasting was ridiculous and we all knew he'd book Pope pointlessly in the last 10 minutes. Either enforce those rules or get rid of them. They're just stupid at the moment. Conte was ****, our players were ****, the subs were **** and the weather was ****. The officials acted like they'd had a call from Mr Bonesaw, though. Useless ****s.
Delivery from out wide was yet again painful to watch, Sessegnon got into some good positions but rarely put in a good ball, Royal the less said the better as we know he isn`t a wing back, and Perisic has been a slightly underwhelming signing despite a good pedigree. I thought Bissouma had a steady game despite slipping on his aris and Bentancur was also steady. Lucas has been a good servant but offers nothing these days, we should look to cash in on him in January, selling Bergwjin looks a bad decision in hindsight as he could have offered the current team something extra.
This is why I don't get insisting that Harry Kane stays forward: it's removed his creative passing through the centre, and we haven't replaced it with creative passing from anybody else Drop an AM into the starting xi, for the sake of using a name let's say Reddit's latest fetish Pedro Goncalves, and then we have three paths for getting the ball forwards instead of the two we're insisting on having while also making our approach play less predictable
I think the decision to sell Bergwijn was partly down to the fact that he was the only player on a rather extensive 'for sale' list that someone actually wanted to stump up hard cash for, so we jumped at the opportunity. It is a creeping concern at the back of my mind that we went into the summer needing to permanently get rid of at least 6-7 senior players, yet only managed to permanently shift Bergwijn and CCV. Everyone else on that list either went out on loan or stayed put, and it severely impacted our ability to be more ambitious in the other direction.
Kane was playing much deeper than previously today, but that in turn left Son totally isolated against big, experienced CBs who shepherded him easily. The solution was to push one of the CMs right up behind our strikers to occupy the '10' position, but we didn't go for it until the last 20mins when Bentancur started dominating that area, which in itself was ironic because at that point we only had 2 CMs and Lucas was on the pitch, so Lucas should've been the player to push up instead of sitting on Doherty's...oh forget it, I'm beyond caring.
Add to that Bentancur really shouldn't be deployed as an AM as he's better in the deeper role dictating play It's not the first time lately that Bentancur has been our most advanced CM, either
Well it’s been a while since I’ve done a proper rant… back at my hotel now after a few beers to drown the sorrows. So glad I made the 4 and a half journey down. Anyone want a season ticket? But in all seriousness that was utter horse **** and the boos from the crowd at HT were loud. That wasn’t the generic boo or grunt fans do if they’re losing, that was a “what in the ****ing nonsense are we watching, sort it out you bunch of ****s” type boo. Many on here know my feelings towards players such as Emerson and Sessegnon so I don’t need to repeat what I’ve been saying for weeks now about the pair but I’m more livid with Conte to be honest. A world class manager like him is ruining our greatest threat(s), Son and Kane look like they’ve never played with another before this season. Son’s positioning is so off, he’s either playing deep where Kane usually does or playing as the central forward/ striker with Kane also being quite central, thus clogging one another’s space. Kane is a 9/10 hybrid, where his best work in recent years has been dropping deep to then feed Son or arrive later on in the box, Son is an elite wide forward - ****ing play them there or at least with enough space so that they’re not almost shagging one another. Then a second grunt is the subs. No subs at HT… Really?! Then on 80 minutes when we’re chasing a goal he brings on Doherty and Davies, that is just ****ing atrocious management. Take a ****ing defender off and get Gil on, we’ve literally got nothing to lose and he’s the remaining attacking player in the squad. Outside of Conte, Dier and Lloris were horrific. Dier especially needs dropping, that’s two in a row now where he’s been awful. Lenglet CCB needs to happen. Really don’t get how we’ve gone backwards from last season though despite having a better squad. The football’s worsened, the squad management is horrendous, we don’t seem as fit and the choice (as well as lateness) of subs are a joke. I’ve already sold my Leeds and Liverpool tickets to my mate’s Dad as I can’t get down for them, he might be offered a few more soon though. **** travelling back to watch spineless performances like that.
I have no idea if that was a foul by Wilson as I’ve not seen a replay since I got home. But one thing I am sure about is that was crap and indecisive goalkeeping from Lloris.
It's an awful decision from Lloris and Dier shouldn't have stopped either. It's still 100% a foul every day of the week, even if Lloris wasn't a keeper. Puts the ball past him and Wilson runs into him and puts his arm out to stop him going past him: https://streamin.me/v/eb37c0b5
Looks to me like you were still shell shocked from the ruthless gaping you got on Wednesday night. Never mind lads.
Dier has looked knackered both today and on Wednesday I'm sure this isn't in any way related to him playing every minute of the season so far...
Similar for Hojbjerg who’s now injured. Just do not understand this obsession with running players into the ground to the point they’re visibly ****ed and then get an eventual injury.
This is why it's weird that we've rotated at LCB a few times, with Lenglet and Davies both getting a run of games, but CCB has been Dier all season and the only reason why Romero hasn't been RCB in every game is he's picked up a couple of knocks While there is the argument for having a settled defence, the obvious issue there is that we brought Romero back into the team a couple of weeks too early so any advantage of reverted to the settled lineup is lost due to a member of the settled lineup not being able to reach their peak performance
You want to see Lenglet at CCB? I thought he was pants today tbh. Almiron went past him like he was a stick man wearing concrete boots. Might work in the less physical CL but no way do I want to see him there in the PL. We need a Dier upgrade in January, that much is crystal clear.
He's looked a lot better in a back 3 but with Romero out of sorts this season (playing through an injury if you ask me), chopping and changing the LCB and playing every minute of every game, he is fast beginning to resemble the Dier of vintage 2018-2021 who I would've have happily carried out of the club for free.
