Spurs fan in peace. I've always tended to like you, couldn't understand why you were so poor last year, and loved you beating Josie and the boys.

As to the game...AVB and the team have probably gotten too much grief. For a team with 7 new starters and zero net spend to be fourth, and level on points for second, is doing pretty well at least. Toothless? Sure, but the usual way to build a team is from the back, and we look very solid there. If we aren't scoring at the end of the year, I'll be concerned.

Having said that, if we start Townsend on the right and Lennon on the left again, I think we'd get a scoreless draw with anyone from a pub side to Bayern. Impossible to score against, and no hope of scoring. But I think Eriksen's due a start, and the question may be whether we replace Lennon with Sigurdson or Holtby. It's actually Sigurdson who's looking most Bale-like at this point, having scored a screamer after a neat move against Hull.

I sure hope the team which waxed Chelsea doesn't show up. That is the downside, that you'll be coming in on a high.

Cheers guys, just found a number of somebody quite local that runs coaches, I've just sent him a message to see if he's got a seat available.

 

Nice one, do you think it could be worth setting up a page somewhere for Coach travel used for away games?

Wouldn't do any harm as far as I can see. It'll be to the benefit of everybody that goes to away games.

 

Agreed, know where thinking of going to Crystal Palace away on December 21 on bus. Also don't know how many away games other people go to.

See quite a few familiar faces at the away games but don't know if any of them use the forum.

If enough of us did go to all the games we could maybe put our own coach on, I think it's about £400.00 to hire the coach so if it was a sell out 400 divided by the amount of people travelling would work out quite reasonable.

Was thinking of contacting him about it just yesterday. He still goes to all the away games I think, but he usually travels by train.

 

Have seen him tweets pictures of him and his friends on the train for away games, but then he probably gets a third off train tickets.

 

He's lucky his missus hasn't put the block on his away day travels.

 

I think there'll be some goals in the game for us but I've been saying that every week since the start of the season

It'll be interesting to see how you mark up out wide. One of the reasons Townsend has become a regular is that he works very well with Walker and last week the 2 of them made mincemeat out of Baines and Pienaar, whilst Villa, who trebled up on their left side ended up tiring from the persistence of Walker and Townsend. Townsend's decision making is pretty poor though, he doesn't really spot a pass and he often shoots when there's no shot actually on. On our left, who knows who'll play, Rose has been one week away from full fitness for about 2 months now so I guess Vertonghen will be on the left and if he plays like he did against Everton then Gouffran(?) will spend a lot of time running the wrong way but **** knows who's going to start left wing.

Chiriches worries me at centre back, he's good at doing the stuff for the cameras like last ditch tackling and bringing the ball forward but it's the boring bits he doesn't seem to get right, like winning headers and marking. Like Luiz he likes to take risks so it's fine margins between him being excellent and ****, you've got to admire his balls sometimes though.

As I said on our board, it'll depend what Newcastle turns up on the day. If you defend like clowns(Everton first half springs to mind) then I think even we'll score a few against you but if you stifle us well and get your own attack play going, I wouldn't put it past you beating us.
