Damnit. One of my favourite players too. Now he IS good in the air. And Dawson is, but not so great in attack.
Walker's actually got a decent spring on him to be fair, he's won a few headers at times where I wouldn't have expected him too. Not in Kaboul or Dawson's league by any means but pretty decent.
Kaboul is by far our best CB in my opinion. A beast in the air (only person I've seen beat Kaboul a couple of times aerially is Chris Samba), strong in the tackle, fast on the ground and can hit the ball with both feet.
Good lad Lewis. Actually doesn't surprise me as he comes across as a good pro, just a pity he still can't score much!
He came on for a half because of an injury in the 2nd game. We had nobody else so i don't think that disproves anything similar to how i can't prove anything
Except he wouldn't be on the bench unless he was fit enough to play. Chiriches could have broken his nose in the 2nd minute. Ledley wasn't on the bench in the latter part of his career 4 days after playing 90 minutes?
Just looked it up. He played weds-sat and tues-sat in our Champs league season (his 2nd last) Oh, and sun-thurs in his last season
Hasn't Kaboul been gradually eased back in and now given the green light to play a little more often? I thought that was what we'd been told, anyway. I think that each of our centre-backs has a lot to offer, to be honest. None of them are perfect, but they're all very good. All a bit different to each other too, which gives the manager some options. Stats from the OS offered up this delightful addition to the Krul saves one that we all heard about: - Krul registered 14 saves against us on Sunday, a season-high for the Premier League. - Coincidently, David Marshall's 13 saves in our 1-0 win at Cardiff in September is second on that 'most saves' list. That suggests to me that our finishing needs work, as I doubt we're up against players suddenly performing miracles every week, then reverting to their normal form the next. It's happened in the recent past, too. Boaz Myhill sticks in the mind, for example.
That would be great news if true, the first bit. Its definitely our finishing. I could save most of Townsend's speculative 40yds punts at goal by just standing on my goal line facing the wrong way and chatting with the closest hot bird in the front row. I'd probably come out with 7 saves just from him.
I don't think you can single out Townsend on that (most of his don't even need to be saved) but we do seem to hit it at the keeper more often than not.
Its not just Lewis Holtby that could do with staying behind to practice! Jaaskilainen twice, once for Spam and once for Bolton.
"That suggests to me that our finishing needs work, as I doubt we're up against players suddenly performing miracles every week, then reverting to their normal form the next." Indeed. If those GK were doing 10+ Banks vs Pele saves against Spurs in a game, then you could say they were playing the game of their lives. Otherwise, they're just doing their job.
