I've no idea what he was up to either. I think we can take as read that he'll play 5 at the back in every game, whether it's needed or not. I suppose that it's chicken and egg issue - which comes first the system or the players to fit the system...and it's the system. That will cost us if we keep playing a defence without Dier and Romero. After that, I'm ****ing lost. I sympathise with Conte regarding the paucity of options in the midfield and up front but...today was bloody awful. Piss poor with bells on it. Oh well, just Chelsea and 'them' to come...
Sessegnon one of the few bright lights today. Even after he was forced to switch flanks. Made one Ricky Villa-esque slalom in the first half where he beat 5 Morecambe players before laying it off to Lo Celso who proceeded to gently kick the ball directly at the defender's leg. It is clear Conte rates him and what I like about him is that he plays the game with his head up, to a far greater extent than reguilon, and has a certain nous to his play as a result. If the boy can stay fit for a run of games, I am cautiously optimistic he'll be a success. Also a note of appreciation for Ben Davies who, unlike a number of his team mates, did not stop running and played like he actually gave a damn.
Got a lot of time for Davies, generally always have. Never gonna be the best player at the club but someone you can always rely on, won't ever hide when **** hits the fan either. Every squad needs players like him. He's in that John O'Shea, James Milner, Gareth Barry mould in my opinion.
Absolutely if they all put in a similar shift the more naturally gifted might actually offer something. Its good that we are finally playing him in what is clearly his best position.
Considering that Ally is a longtime defender of Ndombele, this says a lot ...not least because, as with a lot of the times he flips on somebody, I get the feeling the club's sent him word
A few pundits (and one hate comic from Uncle Rupert's stable) are claiming that Dele was booed off today While he did himself no favours with his performance, he certainly didn't get booed off and instead was trying to get the fans going after he came off - on the other hand, this makes it obvious who was getting booed
Ndombele deserved to get booed for his performance today....the first time I've ever said that about a Spurs player.
Contes comments were overly generous to Ndombele. Can only think he was being diplomatic to limit damage to the sale price. Can't think of a another good reason.
I was at the EL game where Gilberto put in one of the worst performances I have ever seen live. I was also at the Arsenal carling Cup game where Bentley's performances was THE worst I have ever seen live. Never occurred to me to boo them and while there were groans they weren't booed. I have never booed a spurs player but think he would have tested my resolve today had I been there.
Playing meh? He made Ndombele look like Maradona. Couldn't even trap the ball from a slow pass. I know you are making a point but even Poch would have dragged Tavares off.
