Agree with this. Also Lamela got caught in possession at least 4 times and against a top side would have likely been costly.

Lamela needs a few games I think
If he can manage them without getting injured
The last twenty minutes is the exact reason why Parrott should have been on the bench, as we needed someone to hold up the ball yet nobody could

And you seriously didn't think that was on the cards? Maybe not too many clear cut chances, but we always looked capable of throwing it away, particularly last 15 minutes.
Really was mad how it panned out to be a game of two halves.
First half - and granted it's against inferior opposition - we played with so much fluidity, even Eriksen looked up for it, him Gio and Lamela were linking play brilliantly and causing Boro a ton of problems, the three have similar technical and creative qualities and you could tell they were all on the same wavelength. Sess was also making some good runs down the left for the first time in his short Spurs career to date. By half time it should've been 3 or 4-0 at least.
Second half we just looked flat. Both Eriksen and Lamela seemed to fade, though Gio kept up the pace whilst Tanganga really grew into that RB role but the passing became even sloppier (and we had sloppy moments in the first half) and there seemed no urgency. We invited Boro to come back into it and they gladly accepted, goal was soft, Gazza needs to do better there.
Good to win but the game should've been over at HT.
Must learn to a) be more clinical and b) see games out.

Well, that was a real mixed bag. The most important thing is that we're through with no injuries but it wasn't all pretty.
The good:
Japhet Tanganga looks like he's got a future with the club. Very impressive;
Ryan Sessegnon showed just enough to indicate that he could be a decent or better wing back;
Lo Celso played well for about an hour. Lots of industry and invention. He tired but having very little in front of him reduced the passing options for a player who wants to go forward;
Lamela - see Lo Celso. Worked hard, tried to go forwards but needs more football to increase his stamina.
The Bad:
Gazza - despite playing well overall, another poor goal to concede;
Sanchez - I swear that he was drunk or coked up. A really, really bad night;
Super Jan - he looks like he's playing with a groin injury. He's just not the same player. In less than a year, he's gone from the Dortmund game where he was sensational, to looking done.
The Ugly
Eric Dier - I don't have words to do justice to that performance;
Christian Eriksen - the usual. Played within himself and when some digging in was required, he was absent. It's dispiriting watching him do it. Why his team mates put up with it, I don't know.
Jose Mourinho - I'm going to leave the squad selection alone, for now....actually, I'm not. No Parrott...even on the bench? Just, **** off!
Even worse, throughout the second half, we were steadily and surely losing any control we'd exerted over 'Boro in the first half. However, there was only the Lucas/Son change until we conceded. FFS, by then Lo Celso, Lamela, Winks and Dier were all gone and had been for 25 minutes. We had Skippy on the bench...but no....better to let them take control of the game, score and seriously run the risk of ****ing the game up, than make some changes.

The one that got me is when we had a throw-in deep in their half when 2-0 up, yet they were wittering on about second-tier Forest knocking us out in the third round back in the 70s

I reckon we couldn’t afford to play Parrot last night. He threw Son on at 2-0 because he knew we were very shaky which we were and a 3rd goal was really needed.
Cant really put his faith in a kid...I reckon he would have got slated if he played Parrot, kept Son on the bench and we crumbled as was looking likely as the game went on.
I think he called it right...you have to wonder wether Tanganga gets his own personal team talk because his tenacity and tempo seemed to be on a different level to the rest. Was listening to the radio yesterday and they were saying that we look unfit...can’t play the 90 so as games go on...pockets of space always start to appear.
I’m 100% certain someone like Mourinho is not tossing it off in training, no chance.
Parrott should have been on the bench. No ifs or buts. He should have been. Whether he gets on the pitch depends on how the game progresses, but he should have been there.
On a different night, we don't get 'lucky' in the third minute and the game finishes 1-1 or worse. Did we really need Aurier and Foyth on the bench? Foyth can cover right back. I just don't get why we couldn't find space for him on the bench and I'm not happy about it, at all.
About the bench, part of the reason we're tiring, so badly, is that he's not making necessary substitutions. Last night, Skippy should have been on just after the hour. We were tiring by the minute and 'Boro were becoming the better side. We needed someone, preferably 2 changes in midfield. On Saturday, he left Sessegnon on the bench when we needed a goal. I didn't get that either.
I agree Parrot should have been on the bench...I also don’t understand why managers seem to give players a few minutes then they disappear, yet we the fans, have been impressed. It was the same with KWP and Poch. Are the youngsters too lightweight? Tanganga seems to have impressed and he’s a strong boy, strongest out of our crop of youngsters in and around the first team squad from what I can see...so maybe that is a telling factor.
I doubt there’s anything wrong with Parrott physically tbh, the guys played senior football for Ireland already and he looks like one of those that develops early physically. It’s a bit of a mystery why we don’t see him more often because the young players are the ones you’d expect to give us energy, especially towards the end of a game from the bench.
It's definitely a factor. Mourinho like 'em big and physical. Generally, that's not a bad thing, provided the players are mobile and pacy, like Gedson Fernandes. Eric Dier's big but has all the manoeuvrability of a Welsh dresser.
Anyway, I don't see us signing too many delicate short arses whilst he's manager.
The thing I'm most annoyed with about Parrott - and it's been a problem with young players for years now - is that it's not about him or others not featuring for the first team, it's the fact they're not playing at all. KWP, Skipp, Parrott and even Tanganga until his recent starts haven't been playing any kind of football. If they're not gonna feature for the first team they should 100% play for the U23s OR be sent on loan. Not playing a young player is ****ing pointless because they'll never develop, I thought this was a Poch thing but Jose's done the exact same.
I'm hoping the reasoning for Parrott not being involved is because Jose wants to force Levy's hand, whether that be Piatek or this new lad, Ze Luis, we absolutely need a new senior striker and so if Jose has somewhat of a fear that if Parrott was to score a goal against a Championship side it'd give too much confidence in the board to think a striker was not needed, I can get behind Jose's thought process there.
But in general, these young lads have to play, first team, U23s or loans, keeping them around doing nothing other than training will not only **** with them mentally but as we've seen with KWP, it ruins them physically too because he still plays like an 18 year old such is his lack of experience.

Genuine question, if they are promoted to the first team squad do they stop playing for the U23's ?
That would seem to be the case but they're still eligible for the U23s as that's based on age, not a registration policy. It's why a lot of teams use the U23s when a certain player comes back from injury too as you're allowed 3 (I think) over 23s in the matchday squad, hence why that dickhead Lallana played for the Pool U23s against us a year or two ago and decided to try and strangle George Marsh after a tackle.
No, as Skipp played for the U23s last season after making his first team debut. For us it was a case of Poch preferring to have certain players train with the first team rather than play U23/U18 football, notably Skipp last season, which certainly seems to be him not believing that Wayne Burnett was helping the player's development (and to be fair, he;s not alone in that belief, as WindyCOYS has said the same on numerous occasions)

If it isn't, then no, I haven't...but I've only been to Wales three times in my life. The chance of me and a Welsh dresser crossing the bridge at the same time, is very limited at best. Even if it did happen, it would have to have been at an insane speed for me to remember it, which I don't.
