You still weren't happy when we beat Gillingham 5-0, stating that we should've scored more. They can't be playing more effective if they sit below us in the table. More attractive perhaps but not effective.
If Spurs lose I won't have to will I? What I'm saying is that as we only beat struggling Sunderland by one goal then it doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence when the league leaders come to WHL.
I have a Spurs Comic Book History signed by Michael Dawson. Its a trivial item but still a bit special. He was a fantastic man and a rock of a CB, him and King were quite a partnership. By then end of his time with us he wasn't the player we needed, but he was such a professional and a genuinely decent man.
You were hardly buzzing after the Stoke game, IIRC you put down Harry by saying you weren't convinced and then mentioned something along the lines of because they conceded 4 in their previous game that it wasn't as impressive of a feat that we scored 4 as well. Just don't quite understand what it is you want from the team at times in order to be satisfied, DGC. I'd fully understand if we were losing or just fluking games, like how we did under AVB in which we either lost boringly or often relied on Bale to save our skins but nowadays we are generally dominating the opposition, it can't be helped when teams regularly set up to completely contain us - but that's a credit to Poch and our players for now striking fear in the opposition, when Spurs come to town or welcome an opposition, we're now a side that has a fear factor, teams know they have to be at their complete best to beat us or rely on a fluke win. While we perhaps would have liked to have scored more in some of our matches, if you actually look at the statistics of our games so far in the Prem, we've hardly given our opposition a sniff, only Liverpool have truly given our defence a legitimate tough day at the office and even then it was a penalty they needed in order to score.
Those exact league leaders beat struggling Sunderland by the same margin, us 1-0 them 2-1. They also conceded a goal vs Stoke, which we did not.
Ok, City beat Sunderland on the first day of the season and not too much can be gained from that. 6 matches in and the form settles.
But then surely when we faced Sunderland, we were facing a better version than what City faced, no? 6 matches in and we sit 4 points behind Man City, having faced tougher opposition when considering the current league table. We've faced 3 teams in the top 10 and 3 teams in the bottom 10. City have faced 1 side in the top 10 and 5 in the bottom 10.
I don't see how we faced a better Sunderland seeing as they were right down there but I concede your last point. Any win against City will do for me ok.
Less rustiness from pre-season, transfer window done so no uncertainty over who stays/ goes, learning where they went wrong against sides like City & Everton and thus hoping to put it right vs us.
That's a highly speculative last point you're making there seeing as a hatful of chances went begging against Sunderland SoS.
