Pretty sure it was Sissoko but whichever it was should have done better. There can be few excuses when you're the size of those two. Sissoko worries me a little bit. I don't think he's that bad a fit for the team but I'd expect more for a player we spent that much on. Right player in many ways and I guess if we can afford the overspend then its not a disaster. He's a squad player after all. But I expect more from him in a footballing sense especially as he's not young and knows the league. Deserves more time yet but I'm not sold.
It's not doing my ****ing nerves any good, mate. Every ****ing week the same ****! I'm getting too old for this, I just want to see us finish a wounded opponent off, for once!...
Not at all! I love Rose! But even last season we did not miss him as we did (or would have if they'd got injured) the other three cos in Davies we have decent cover.
Fuuuuuuuck me guys, I never would've thought winning a game would've brought about so much dissatisfaction amongst some... WE'RE SECOND! I repeat, second! At a time in which all the so called big boys are meant to be on their come back trails after disappointing season's last year and thus should be blowing us out the water. We've yet to get out of second gear for most games - despite still playing pretty well in periods - and today we were missing Kane, Dembele, Rose AND Dier, the only player better than those last year was Toby (maybe Alli as well), so essentially 4 of our best 5 players were missing while Lamela's international duty earlier this month has caused him to be benched for a few games, how many teams could've gone into a match with that many key players out and still come away with the victory? We were brilliant in that first half, probably performed better than expected considering the number of players we had out but Son in particular was just amazing - how wrong was I saying I'd drop him due to fears of his inconsistency?! - and his two goals were so well taken, the second was ****ing brilliant! Thought Janssen was a real handful in the first, the assist for Son was sweet! Died out in the second half, mainly due to a lack of service but the assist will help boost confidence and help with his integration into the side. Wanyama was also superb and if it weren't for Son being the dog's bollocks he'd have taken the MOTM award, put in a Dier-Like performance of preventing attacks and covering the CB's as much as possible. No one else really stood out, Sissoko was pretty poor in the second half and was easily beaten for their goal, while Lloris' passing in the first was frustrating, I know his kicking isn't great but about 3 or 4 times he messed up passes which could've proved costly had Boro been wise. 3 points, still unbeaten, second in the Prem, yet to reach 3rd gear for the most part. I'll take that
7 goals have been scored in Kane's absence so is he really missed? Now I KNOW he's a favourite and I'm merely quoting a statistic.
DGC I challenge you again. Say something positive about Spurs. I double dare you. I don't think saying we don't miss Kane really counts.
If Spurs had scored something like the 26 goals Liverpool have scored this season in all competitions then I'd be more positive. I'll also be more positive when they beat teams more convincingly.
Point taken, but this is recurring problem. Middlesbrough should have been dead and buried before half time. They weren't!....
And yet, Liverpool have exactly the same goal difference as us. And less points. And have been beaten by Burnley.
They're playing the more effective football though and winning more convincingly. I won't be surprised if they overtake us.
If we're being honest, Pool completely outplayed us for an hour or more, and should have been 2/3 up. Their Achilles is, they seem to put all their energy into the first hour, then the steam starts to run out.,
In fairness, Liverpool's start to the season has been impressive. On paper, they had a nightmare first month - facing 3 of last season's top 4 with away games at Chelsea and newly-promoted Burnley thrown in. And they've navigated that pretty impressively. No European football will be a massive advantage for them this year as they haven't got the squad to juggle both but their first XI is dangerous enough to tear anyone to shreds. Deluge of first half goals today - must be some sort of record. Delighted with the win and 100% agree with SOS for a change . A little bit of context is needed here. We haven't been at 'full strength' once this season as week on week, at least one key player has been injured or suspended. It is a testament to our summer recruitment and wise decision not to let Son leave that even multiple absentees doesn't knock us off track one iota. True, we're not winning every game 6-0 as some posters would prefer to see, but by the same token we're also not giving away stupid points - an occurrence that happened with alarming frequency last season due to lack of proper cover for key players. I have a well-earned and well-deserved reputation as one of the pessimists on this board, largely due to my devoting an entire thread to discussing how we'd underperformed last season , but I seriously cannot fathom the doom and gloom this season. Even Colin has been in a good mood for most of it! Oh and @Spurlock mate you got your pre-season prediction right. Only difference being that it turns out you meant Son, not Lamela
