Ben has been arguably one of our most consistent performers in recent times and whilst I can see Lenglet is decent, he's done little to convince me he is above Davies in the pecking order at LCB.
Let's hope our defence plays out of their socks today (are you listening Sanchez?). ....and that our attack realises they are better than they are performing lately! GO GET 'EM!
I agree although I thought Langlet looked better at CB than he has at LB. I think his strength is ball distribution forward which is not so obvious from LB.
Yeah I like both too. I think Davies is more dependable as an outright defender but Lenglet is the more technically sound player, so good for getting the football moving. I’d like to make Lenglet’s move permanent if he keeps it up. Good competition for that LCB spot.
Looks like Conte’s agrees, Spurf. He’ll be CCB again with Dier at RCB, who looked good there when he came on against Bournemouth.
Certainly hope it ain’t Sessegnon there, Perisic makes way more sense but then it won’t be the strangest of Conte decisions this season. Dier was good at RCB when he came on the other day though, on paper I think that back three looks our best bet without Romero.
One thing I will say though, surely this is the last straw for Emerson and Doherty and that Spence should get a go soon? He obviously trusts neither senior RWB (and for good reason), what’s there to lose in giving Spence a go in a couple games, even off the bench tonight if one of Perisic or Sessegnon aren’t performing?
I think it exposes Dier's lack of mobility, which wasn't an issue against Bournemouth. They'd started to sit back completely and their forwards were knackered and should've been subbed. Whoever's at RWB isn't a RWB. Doherty and Spence on the bench. Perisic doesn't seem to have the legs for Conte's demands in that role. Sessegnon isn't particularly two-footed. Either way, it's a poor choice, in my opinion. Marseille will be looking to attack. They'll have plenty of defensive work to do.
Forest in the League Cup, probably. I hope he takes the opportunity, as a poor showing could see him knocked well back. Might even have to go out on loan in January for his own good.
I’d take his lack of mobility over Sanchez’s lack of brain to be honest. He’s also got a very underrated cross should he find himself further up the pitch. As for RWB, I think we could make an argument for that than none of the senior WBs are actual RWBs, lol. The only one that possibly is doesn’t get played. We don’t know how Perisic will do today assuming he is the RWB, especially if we are up against it but equally I have zero faith in the others to do any better. With Perisic we’ll at least have someone who can actually cross a ball and take a corner though.
Nope. Not trusted for a game such as this, but ok for most PL opposition. So you better pray Spurs reach the CL final then.
I’m not sure he does even trust Doherty in the Prem, scarcely used him in it this season. Emerson he bizarrely does but maybe that Bournemouth performance changes things… here’s hoping anyway.
I don't think that will happen but it isn't the most far fetched idea, especially given that we saw Lucas playing there in pre season and the fact that Dier is highly unlikely to push forward like Romero or Sanchez do, so having a more attack minded WB balances that out.
