Because they’re not good enough, this is why when fans say Ben Davies is good enough it annoys me because he’s simply not. Dier is important at the moment but imo he’s just the best of a bad bunch. At least 2 CB and 1 RWB are needed in the summer
That was always going to be the headline - whatever the result. Both poor when the other team have the ball, although Spurs are better in midfield defensively.
Davies is probably the only defender that hasn’t ****ed up today though so don’t agree with that narrative.
United playing our game and catching us out. BUT we have played well so looking for better results in the second half.
I mean over the course of a season, this defence isn’t good enough, too many mistakes in them. In any game that is important they seem to make avoidable mistakes.
Losing that second goal so soon after equalising was huge. Utd will sit back and hit Spurs on the counter now.
Davies doesn’t make many mistakes though, as a LCB he’s been very good for us. I don’t get the hate. Whether we sign a better CB or not in the summer remains to be seen but I don’t see him as an issue in that back three.
Going exactly as I thought...except we scored.. Will be our 4th loss in our last 6 games against the worst united team in 10 years...sums us up tbh
I think half of it is our own doing too. Dier just standing off him as he’s winding up for a shot was ridiculous, we all know what the guy’s capable of and then Doherty/ Romero allowing Sancho through them with Reguilon playing him onside gives Ronaldo an easy tap-in. Basic from us and so annoying too, we’ve been in control for most of the game yet find ourselves 2-1 down because of them.
It’s not hate but he’s just at the required level imo. Same goes for Hojbjerg. Decent enough squad players but they shouldn’t be playing as much as they do as limited in ability
I don’t really agree, I think as a LCB he’s been at the required level. No doubt it’s possible to sign a better player but he’s had a decent season in that position and I don’t think he looks out of place.
Dier’s having an awful game so far. Stupid cross-field pass in your own box. Looking like the 2018-2021 version of himself. Bentancur also having his poorest game since joining.
