Yeah, it does. We might well have stumbled upon the right man but we can't afford to **** this up again so really should use the remainder of this season to find that out for certain, while also sounding out other potential candidates. I'd love it to be Ole though, can't lie.
It's great having an ex player who understands the club but like you say it's crucial that you get it right at the moment and Ole will have to really show that he's the man for the job in a number of ways before the end of the season, so far he's passed every test though. I hate the little ****er, got into a fight with a Man Utd fan when he popped on and scored 2 in the FA Cup. I lost that as well.
I remember that day well, I'd been in Cardiff the night before (it's around my birthday, it might even have been my 30th), and got on a train back still half pissed to go straight to the pub and watch, getting even more pissed. Fairly sure I had a (much deserved) sickie the day after!!
Can't remember where I was but some fella was laughing at me across the bar so words were exchanged and I took a swing, missed and he caught me a cracker, bit of rolling around on the floor occurred and then it was split up.
My one major concern about Ole was his tactical ability and yesterday completely blew away any worries on that front. His game plan was spot on and you could see that every player bought into the job they were being asked to do - another almighty plus. Its easy to forget just how long he was mentored by SAF and how experienced he is from coaching and managing younger players and Cardiff/Molde. If he shows that he has the tactical nous to match his obvious man-management skills it would be hard not to give him the job.
I think he has one very important test yet to pass, he needs to be allowed to buy a player in this window (no world record buy just a squad player) and see how he fits him in and if he fits well. At least then we would have an idea how he would fare in the summer market.
This is a major point that I think everyone is ignoring. The ego is not there. Ole is using all resources across the club. I read that he even asked Sir Alex about team selection for the match. No one from outside would ever risk being seen trying to tap into Sir Alex because they want to be seen as the absolute manager. This is the type of setup that rebuilds the culture and team foundation.
The Spurs game was a massive win for us, Considering a lot of people saying this was our first big test under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well.
By all accounts, the spuds shafted you in the second half, with DdG keeping you in it..................... .............again
That's not by all accounts at all. Actual accounts are that Spurs change their tactics in the second half to counter our own first half tactics, as they were themselves being dicked by our front three. We adjusted to their new approach by adapting and changing ours. Our tactic with half an hour to go was essentially play occasional counter while adopting a defensive approach to protect our lead. This meant Spurs attacked more and the perception was they were all over us, whereas in actual fact we were carrying out a game plan. Which worked. No luck, not spawny, no good fortune. We won, one ****ing nil.
Just to even it up for you, perhaps all PL clubs should try playing without a keeper this weekend considering it is so unfair that ours should be good at what he does. What next, ask teams to play without strikers because they are too good at scoring goals.
