    I enjoyed Soldado's reaction to Sandro's goal.

Bit behind here guys, had a few birthday celebrations over the weekend, was in the Empire Casino until 6 am Sunday morning so my trip to White Hart Lane was a bit zombified! <laugh>

Thought the performance was a lot better (needed to be really), thought Dembele was unbelievable, arguably one of his best performances for us, also thought Chadli was really good too, worked back a lot to help Vertonghen and also contributed to a good few attacks and like Dembele, probably had his best game for us so far.

I liked the fact the match itself was high tempo, both Utd and Spurs ideally needed a win so it was good to see no team sitting back for a change. Only thing that concerned/ annoyed me still was that despite the fact we created a few chances, I don't think De Gea had to make a proper save throughout the match.

Both our goals were a joy to watch, had a feeling Walker would pelt it along the floor but Sandro's was just out of this world.

If we can maintain that sort of performance but finish off the chances, we'll pick up some points no doubt. Just hope it's not a one off!

Yes, what was that about? He put his head in his hands as it went in. Was he pissed off that there was no pass?

He was reacting because he realised that even Sandro could score a goal! <laugh>

Some people appear to be talking about Chadli without using the word '****'. Am I on the right board?

I thought chadli was fairly decent. Did nothing wrong and won us some corners when he had very little other options.

I thought that he had a good first half and then ran out of steam. There's been quite a few posts writing him off entirely based upon his other performances, though. All five of them.

Yup, Chadli was pretty good overall, I thought. He didn't hit any of those no-hope shots into Row Z, and when he doesn't do that, he's a good player. I thought he sacrificed in the second half to help Jan out against Valencia, and Jan needed it.

Not playing Dembele against top teams is a mistake, IMO. With him, the last two years it's been draw Man U, draw Chelsea, win Man City, draw Man U, win Man U. Without him, Spurs 2-4 Chelsea, Man City 6-0 Spurs.

At least until Eriksen shows he can be an effective #10 against top teams, I'm fine with playing him, Paulinho, and Sandro, as long as we attack the goal instead of passing it sideways around the penalty box.

...end of another unnecessary tangent. :)

Back to topic, Allardyce is right in saying its better to bite your lip. It is stupid to upset the English media, they're harsh, conniving, and have broken better managers than avb, we'll see over the weeks how they react.

On Chadli, he did ok, I also think there's not much going on between him and JV, I'd like to see Rose there, his more direct style might suit NC better.

Yeah, I think so too. It might take awhile though, I seem to remember in pre season and early season Chadli was doing a few flicks and passes to bring Rose into it but he wasn't on the same page, like any partnership they need to be playing together to build anything.

Rose has ceased to exist as far as i can tell so an understanding is unlikely. I think JV is our left back now, til he requests a transfer in january for being played out of position in WC year.

He plays left back for Belgium (a fact that various newspapers missed in the last week...)

Belgium's full backs are both CB's.

    Their strongest back 4 is:

Alderweireld, Kompany, Vermaelen (or van Buyten), Vertonghen.

Rose is happy to bomb-on in a game to either provide the LM with an overlap option or to drag a player and give the LM more room, JV doesn't bomb anywhere!

No, even the media realise everyone knows this, its nothing new, makes similar mistakes there to, not that you can begin to compare Internationals with the PL...you're not one 'o' dem fools are you?

JV and His Amazing Exploits for Belgium is a book from the same shop as Gio and His Amazing Exploits for Mexico.

    Oh really?

"Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has confessed his annoyance at playing out of position...Vertonghen is reported to have told Belgian TV that he is unhappy with the utility role and wants to be restored to his natural habitat, in central defence." http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenham-defender-jan-vertonghen-becoming-2677743

"Jan Vertonghen has again warned Andre Villas-Boas that he is not happy playing out of position and has urged the Tottenham manager to step up his search for a new left back." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Vertonghen-does-want-play-left-Tottenham.html

"Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has admitted he has told Andre Villas-Boas that he does not enjoy playing at left-back." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/8357998

The Sky Sports article is a year old - so, no, the media clearly don't know this if three separate sources fail to report that he plays left back for Belgium.
