Dele Alli is a top class player, his stats in the last couple of seasons still out perform others in the squad who regularly get game time, all Dele is guilty of, is falling below the high standards he set himself previously, and not having a game suited to running up and down the pitch to defend. His drop off in form can be attributed to first of all injury, then a change of manager, with the new manager being a dinosaur who plays a negative brand of football and who does not know how to get the best out of top class attacking players. Dele gets randomly thrown into the team by a desperate manager, and is expected to immediately start hitting the heights he has set previously, players need a run of games to rediscover their best form (see Bale). This is why we need a change of manager, somebody who will play to our squads strengths, and breath confidence back into top attacking players, not ostracize them for misplacing a pass while trying to create a goal.

    Then he should have quit.
I am really against this bollocks that all our ****e signings are on Levy rather than the manager.
JM would never keep his mouth shut about getting dumped with a player he did not buy.

He’s not a top class player. Dele is a player that thrived for two seasons then progressively got worse. He’s an example of a player peaking in their youth but not being able to maintain that level over the course of time.

What that says is Dele's decline coincided with his injury problems ramping up rather than his qualities as a player, as the 2017-18 season was the last season where he wasn't blighted with injuries

In comparison, 2018-19 season him pull a hamstring and miss one match, come back into the team too soon and reaggravate the injury to miss a further three matches, flit in and out of both form and the team as some games he'd dominate like the 3-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Pit and others look like somebody coming back from a hamstring injury, then miss a further eight games with a thigh strain, literally limp back into the team, then fracture his hand for good measure - and then to keep up the good work, he started the 2019-20 season with a hamstring injury picked up in pre-season that saw him miss the first two matches, continued playing like someone coming back from a myriad of injury layoffs, and then picked up some other injury at the tail end of the season to miss another five

And that's certainly the issue for the last eighteen months now, we spent last season trying to brute force Dele back into form (which is as much on Poch as it is the ubermensch) which didn't work, when what we needed to do was ease him back in considering the previous season saw us rush him back into the team - which isn't a million miles away from what happened with Fernando Torres, as they kept giving him painkilling injections to play through injuries until his body basically crashed from overwork

Completely agree, it’s just a cheap cop out for anyone that wants to blame Levy/ ENIC for anything that goes wrong. If Jose didn’t want Hart then I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have installed him immediately as 2nd choice.

Or maybe like 99% of the way managers deal with it is to not even entertain the player.

No manager quits over that...that’s your wishful emotional thinking.

How can it be a penalty if Gundogan steps on the back of Hojbjerg's ankle first? Is that not a foul?

Nope, stick him under a good manager who knows how to get the best out of him and you will probably see him rediscover form. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

    Jacques Santini quit

That's the one good thing that came of his time in charge: we didn't have to pay him compensation to get him out the door

Injuries isn’t the sole reason for Dele’s drop in form. Similar excuses were being made for Winks a couple years ago as people were mentioning his ankle injury as to why he’d been poor.

Ultimately the Dele of the first two seasons is not the Dele we see nowadays. We’ve seen occasional flashes of what he can do but flashes aren’t enough if you’re a team looking to go places. I don’t know why he’s dropped so badly in quality but unfortunately for us he has.

So Pochettino and Mourinho aren’t good managers?

I wish Dele’s form was just temporary, but the best part of three years now is a bit more than temporary.

Not really mate...JM would not stand for having Hart forced on him as a number two keeper.
He clearly did not rate Gazzaniga (which is his right ... and I agree with that judgement) as he preferred to play Vorm v Norwich in the FA Cup last season.
He immediately put Hart into the Cup games so obviously rated him

His post-Spurs career pans out something like this

July 2005: hired as manager of Auxerre
July 2006: fired by Auxerre for constantly sniping at the club's vice president
June 2008: offered the Hearts job, but turned it down
January 2010: hired as DoF of Saint Etienne
May 2010: fired as DoF of Saint Etienne
July 2010: hired as AssMan of Lens
January 2011: fired as AssMan of Lens, as they hired a new manager
January 2013: hired as DoF for Paris FC
    July 2014: leaves Paris FC

Given his track record has him leaving jobs after a couple of seasons at most even before he joined us, he really was a poor choice - and that's before he started blowing his whistle at fullbacks daring to cross the halfway line

The idea that Jose has become a yes man to Levy is laughable. If we signed a player it’s because he ok’d it.

Not really relevant, but I've just noticed that French football basically doesn't have derbies. Weird.

We never know Hugo might get dropped eventually. It’s not months n months of clangers its the last 10/12 days.

Gazza or Hart both are much of a muchness. I do understand why out of the 2 you’d keep Hart.

Ultimately we need a new number 1

Once again it’s first team improvements required therefore all eyes on the money spenders.

No one saying that however you’re in for a shocker if you thought a past it mid 30’s, Burnley’s third choice was signed to be our number 1.

Can’t keep on forgetting the dynamics of the thinking when he came in and when it comes to experience he’s got what Gazza can only dream of.

However neither are first choice material so apart from a change neither will be replacing Hugo.
