Luckily I have never been one of those in favour of dropping Hugo Lloris

Ever since Hugo stopped sitting on his arse and actually chose a direction when facing a penalty, he’s been bloody good at them! COYS

VAR isn’t the problem. It’s the tools using it!

This post from a couple of days ago on r/coys about Kuipers has aged well...

For me he's the best ref in Europe. Let's the game flow when it needs to, and steps up at the right time. Knows how to use the VAR in the right way. Only criticism is that he sometimes waits too long to give a card (not until like the second half). Has refereed on some big occasions aswell, so he knows his ****

It’s turned the game into a farce as everyone is going to appeal for everything right now.
    Completely ruins the game

I quite like it for big decisions not being missed, but the ref shouldn’t be allowed to have people in his ear, as well as then being able to see ridiculously slow motion replays, with the pressure of fans and too much time to think about it.

Seems harsh on Rose though to be fair. I know they’re being extra strict on the position of arms now but it felt like the ball would have hit him anyway if his arms has been down. And they were in a natural position for him given he was sliding.

I don’t like it all! It just disrupts the flow of the game completely. If that had gone in it could have almost been tie over after 10 minutes

Neither of our FBs look 100% tonight but every time that ball comes near Trippier I’m concerned

I thought no wonder Pep was only worried about Messi. A diabolicle penalty decision.Rose had hi s head turned when struck! Penalty taker must have been embarrassed. Watch out for Sterling, his falling downs may con this ref!

It should just be someone in his ear telling him the decision, and made within 20-30 seconds. It’s when they have to run half way across the pitch to look at a screen. <doh>
