There was a moment shortly after the goal when the baggies fans were singing 'are you west brom in disguise?' Or maybe it was the United fans. Difficult to tell when so few remain in the ground.
Even the signings that you would assume fit in with Portuguese Albert Steptoe's vision (or "defenders" for short) don't seem to fit, which begs the question who's signing who
Maybe. But there were so many games under BMJ, Harry and then AVB where we'd actually put in a really good showing but still lose, simply because we lacked that little bit of extra quality. Classic example comes to mind was that 3-2 reverse at the Etihad under Harry. We played really, really well that day and worked our socks off to come back twice from going behind to draw level. Then we created enough late chances to win it but didn't have that little bit extra to steal all 3 points. In the end Ledley gave away an uncharacteristic last minute penalty and we lost. Probably dropped out of the title race as a result of that game but at full time I felt real pride at how we'd gone toe to toe with a vastly more expensive side on their own patch. Those days seems to be over. Play well and by and large, we win. Play **** and we lose. Really ****.
Funny what happens when a team has a piss easy start to the season while the chasing pack don't get started until mid-October, isn't it?
We certainly lacked that extra player on the pitch that day after Balotelli somehow got away with this with Howard ****ing Webb looking right at him
Told Roo he would be here on the late shift. I fear he will go full Mouser mode if Spurs win next weekend.
As already established the last time you denied what was right in front of you, most teams don't start the season against a series of defensive basket cases
Today's game was little different to many this season. Utd have all the ball but cannot break down teams who sit deep and defend. It becomes like a training routine - but the players have obviously not been coached well enough in how to do it. Nobody runs into space, nobody knows what pass will be made, there is no pace or movement and the players end up static, closely marked by an opposing defender. There is no skill, guile or intuition. Surely players, with the individual ability they are known to possess, can be coached to play together and have a plan to open up lesser teams?
Football is a funny old game. With us beating you recently, your below par CL campaign, and the inevitable PL outcome, I fully expect us to get turned over at the weekend. It’ll be bloody typical/Spursy.
