Kaboul Chiriches is a good idea as well. The race for the PL is interesting because everyone with any chance has a big handicap: either a new manager or a gun on their shirt. I picked Man City before the season so might as well stick with them. I'd have to say at this point that if everyone faffs around enough to let Man U win again, it would be pretty funny.
I haven't seen any evidence to suggest Avb would look at the opponents and make changes to stop us getting caught out so if Dawson is dropped, I would be shocked! In many ways I can understand why managers pick a team, stick with it and then play their style regardless of their opposition as it helps install confidence, but with certain games you simply have to make adjustments or players like Aguero will have an easy game.
Admittedly, not so much if you're a City fan. My POV is I really don't want Arsenal to win, and want Chelsea to win only a little more. So either Manc is as good as I'm gonna get. I'd take you winning every game but the two we play you since it would mean no title for Arsenal or Chelsea.
Navas is likely to have a field day because its Vertonghen! JV has all the pace of my nan. Navas should fear for his shorts and possible baring of buttocks though.
Having endured his last 2 performances i'm not that cut up about Eriksen being out. Harsh i know, but fair.
We've been given twAtkinson. **** ref, especially when you're playing against a "bigger" team as we are on Sunday. I just hope when he cocks up(and he will) that it's so obvious he has nowhere to hide and at least we can be relieved from having him again for the rest of the season.
Eiriksen will be very good eventually, but I agree he hasn't been that great the last few games. And it's not like we're desperately short of CMs. Holtby, Gylfi and Lamela all are natural CMs, IMO. Holtby has probably done as well overall as any of our other forwards, with the possible exception of Gylfi. Let's see what he can do with a few starts. I don't suppose Rose will be fit. I really like Jan at fullback in their end, but his lack of pace vs. Navas in ours is frightening. If Rose doesn't start, I hope we start Chiriches/Kaboul.
think we will need rose if fit to counter the pace of Navas etc,the one thing that let's Verts down is his lack of pace
where the hell is Rose? I thought he injured a toe? How seriously can you injure a toe for crying out loud?
I said similar last week, he could have fully recovered from amputating the poxy thing and be done with it by now.
I only made a one sentence comment somewhere, I can't remember where it was either no matter anyway, I'm just agreeing with you. And yes, it was amusing to see the u-turn of opinion on him as the first few matches went by, he's not as terrible at defending in that position as some make out, he has the pace to correct errors (same as Walker) he is also pretty good at drawing fouls, not in crayon , but if he's under a bit of pressure he quite often comes out with a free kick, I've noticed, clever FB play if intended, but its risky relying on refs to do their job these days.
Looks like Eriksen won't be featuring if reports are true, potentially out for up to 3 months according to some outlets. Others saying a few weeks...
Beware the "pace v pace" argument. There is a good counter argument that a pacey defender is not necessarily better in these situations than someone who is simply a better defender. Remember the Corluka v Villa thing a few seasons back.
Eriksen - I've sat back from this lad, thought I'd take a good look before saying too much, but he has to me fallen into the usual first time foreigner category. After a couple of early flashy bits in what were early season games against easier opposition, now the PL is fully up to speed he seems like a rabbit caught in its headlights. The pace of our game and less time on the ball than he's used too, meaning he has to make quicker decisions or get disposessed, its something he'll have to get used to. He's going to have to work harder than he ever did at Ajax to get back in the side, and if it is 3 months it'll give him a chance to get in the gym and get some strength built up on him.
As does Soldado, the guy hasn't a clue where he should be or where the play is! not to mention Paulinho and his bottle job tackle, we can pick faults in most of our new arrivals and Eriksen definitely has to work harder but unfortunately thats his style, he is laid back and relaxed. I remember watching him for Denmark a few years back, he was being talked as the next great thing and after watching him play a few games, you're sat there thinking "really, he must be holding back then!".
