We would lose the final after winning two irrelevant league games. I'm so convinced that I think I'll take Liverpool.
Liverpool away, a ground at which we have a truly atrocious record, yet there is a part of me that thinks we might make it, with a very scrappy draw. Unfortunately it's my easily broken heart that thinks we might get a result. My logical thinking brain and all my footballing nous garnered from years of being let down on nights like this says that there is only winner tonight and they play in red. As for the team I would be unchanged from the weekend but I think Ange will start Sarr ahead of Moore moving Kulu out to the right. At least the bench will be stronger with Danso and Tel both included. COYS
I'd be tempted to start Tel because we need ... something. Let's face it, they're better than us and we need them to play below their best to have a chance. So we need an edge, which might just come from the unknown factor. They will think they can beat us, so perhaps complacency is also something to hope for. But they haven't faced Tel and it might just add a bit of confusion to the mix.
The issue is LW is Tel's strongest position. I don't think Son has done nearly enough this season to warrant being an automatic starter, but I doubt we'd drop him for a game of this importance. Then I was tempted to use Tel through the middle, but remembered that as awful as he is, Richarlison will be unbelievably psyched to score at Anfield. But I still think the element of the unknown could be a game-changer. I'd go: Tony Porro Gray Davies Spence Kulusevski Bentancur Bergvall Tel Pigeon Son Austin Reggie Danso Sarr Bissouma Moore Scarlett
Certainly far right in geographical terms. If Newcastle was any more far right it would be in the sea.
Can't call this one despite preety much everyone saying we should go through tonight... Hopefully the spursy version of Tottenham turns up cos you'll give anyone a game with the good version. 1st goal will be crucial I think. Hopefully it's us that scores it.
Really hope we can put an end to the horrendous away record at anfield. May the best team win, but please, can we just have a game that’s not controversial in terms of refereeing decisions? I said the same thing before our Arsenal game a few weeks ago, and lo and behold they scored when the ball had gone out of play. just don’t wanna see a ref buckle under the pressure of the home crowd etc.
Tottenham XI: Kinsky, Gray, Danso, Davies, Spence, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son Subs: Austin, Porro, Reguilon, Bergvall, Ajayi, Cassanova, Olusesi, Moore, Tel
No pressure, Kevin, mate. Just keep a clean sheet on your debut away at the best side in England at the moment, yeah?
