Ah remember it well. Cried like a baby when we got relegated, I was 15. Great entertainment in the 2nd division though...

    Ange is no Burkinshaw.

Ange isn’t on a learning curve, he is what he is and he won’t compromise or change. You either accept that and back that or get rid. Seeing as Levy was the one who appointed him and interviewed him, he should be giving him all the tools he needs and probably asked for. Ange has now said the club needs experience and quality rather than more youngsters so let see what happens in January.

    I tend to agree.

Ange apparently employs coaches to get his ideas across to the squad rather than get involved heavily himself, which I've always found a bit odd.

It's decision time for Danny boy though, but I suspect Ange will last the season. Back with a full squad by say late January then he might have a good run in....

If you look at the Liverpool side today at least nine of them would start in the best side we could have put out. So any strategy was doomed to failure. I'm much happier with a coach who understands that and still tries to win than one who sets up for a narrow loss or a draw if we get lucky.

The ability to delegate is normally considered to be a key skill of a manager.

But delegating is only successful if the results are positive.

That luxury came while the club was financially sound.

Was it not the harsh realities of the cost overrun of
the new west stand build at WHL that led to the :

    1. Scholar takeover and the PLC flotation

    2. tension between Keithy and Scholar that on his exit
had the former saying : there used to be a football club over there.

Notably, since his departure the 'two year judgement'
of every Spurs manager has effectively held true
    from then to now.

You could say the same re Burkinshaw tbh.
I ain't saying I'm right but from memory Burkinshaw refused to budge from his footballing views.
Maybe Ange ain't going to be a success but tbh no one has been successful in the Premier league era bar Jol (4 yrs)took us from nowhere to challenging for top 4, Redknapp (4 yrs) getting us top 4 and Pochettino (5yrs).
They are also 3 of the 4 longest serving managers we had in the past 30 years (gerry francis being the 4th).
From 2004 we've had Santini, Pleat, Ramos, AVB, Sherwood, JM, Uno and Conte... none have last 2 seasons.
6 of them did not complete a whole season.
    This can not continue imo

1977-78 was my first full season attending (Paxton end) .
Will always remember the Bolton (50K attendance) and
    Hull (last home) games.

I agree and if Levy appointed him then he should give him what he needs and wants. Getting longer than 2 years at Spurs has to be earned and so far I’m not sure Ange has done enough to warrant any longer than that.

I’ve never felt his approach can be successful for Spurs but agree constantly changing managers doesn’t work either. I don’t know what the next step is tbh but Spurs need to become harder to score against and beat asap or Ange will pay the price.

The fact he came on his own and doesn’t have coaches of his own (like Poch) is certainly unique and imo makes his job harder. If he had come in last year with two trust assistants (like Harry Redknapp) then it would be easier for players to know what he wants. As it is, he probably spends a lot of time (purely guessing) teaching his coaches what he wants as well as players.

It’s just a weird approach for me which won’t ever work at this level.

8 defeats out of 17 league games and sitting bottom half of the table nearly halfway through the season is pretty conclusive. Last 3 home games have seen Spurs concede 4,3 then 6. It’s just not good enough.

Alright, who had a monkey's paw and asked for us to be within four points of The Sheikh Mansour Team at Christmas...?

One thing in Anges favour is that the players are still playing for him, they never stopped trying to play his football today, by this stage with AVB when we got caned by Liverpool the players had downed tools completely.

This squad believes they can score goals whoever
the opposition is. The problem is they cannot prevent
goals whatever the injury status of the squad is.

This game is now a big sword labelled
'pragma over dogma' hanging above his head.

He will not reach the League cup final with
    anything close to this performance.

If this is them playing for him, I’d dread to see how bad it would be if they weren’t.

Keith was also blessed with some unique homegrown talent to work with and a few rather tasty international signings, but I tend to agree with RCL on the timescale.
I share your reservations about his coaching process, but the Club needs to show the same commitment to Ange as his players are still showing to him. He needs to be given a warchest for the next 2 windows at least until late autumn '25.
And yes, I know I was one of those who wouldn't have lost much sleep if he'd gone 2 weeks ago! <laugh>
