I am for VAR. I think the automated goalline tech is (near) flawless and we should be doing the same to offsides too. The issue is a lack of understand of the laws amongst players and more widely (like the prominence of the phrase ‘clear and obvious’) and the fact that, like many things in the UK, VAR is not ran well. Evidence abound of this in the Liverpool audio. Too much interest in protecting the referee on the pitch and not enough on actually defining a correct decision.
