Trying to dominate against Liverpool will be nothing like it was against United. Liverpool are by far a better footballing side. Gotta be so careful this afternoon. I really hope the players have been chosen on merit, but tactically we’re approaching this differently.
Roo if you go into a game thinking you have to be careful then you are considering defeat. Full on Spurs in their face is what we need.
Course I’m considering defeat! We’re playing Liverpool at Anfield! One of the toughest games of the season. However, they are beatable, despite how good they are. But we have to negate their strengths. Do that, and we have a chance of at least a point.
I'm not sure that it does. In the Wembley game, we played a 5-3-2 with Dele, Winksy and Christian Eriksen in the 3 and HK and Sonny up top. It worked very well, as we know. I'd be surprised to see us go to far away from that to start with. Sure, we've not got Toby, which is a big miss but we'll just have to go with Eric Dier. Off the bench available to us, who would we bring in? Aurier and Winks aren't match fit. Wanyama's been in terrible form since he came back. Llorente's in terrible form. Sissoko's terrible. That leaves Erik Lamela. I'm not sure who he replaces to radically alter things.
Disappointed Lucas isn't in the squad. He's probably no less match fit than some of our players on the bench and many of those have been poor this season when they've played.
I think the will win comfortably. They'll start fast and we we revert back to safe sideways passing. Something happens when we go away to "big" teams in the prem. We were poor away to Arsenal, City and United this season and to United, Liverpool and City last season...we play well v Chelsea last season and v Arsenal. In our last 8 away games to City, Liverpool, Arsenal, United and Chelsea we have lost 6 and drawn 2, scoring 5 goals conceding 14. In my opinion we will be 5 points behind Liverpool come fulltime today and will be hoping Chelsea do not beat Watford tomorrow. 5 points out side top 4 could be too much of a gap even with 12 games to go.
Salah and Mane are going to have blinders today and Lovren and Henderson will not be awful ... Dele will be a chump and we will have the non Danish Eriksen playing
I can see the ball going back to Lloris a lot today. If ever there was a day for him to actually distribute the ball well.... 1-0 down already.
