We’ve gotten over a few psychological hurdles this year, but they keep coming thick and fast, it seems. We have to keep overcoming them if want to continue to progress (not to state the blindingly obvious...). Now we face a team which has beaten us by three goals or more the last three games, and kept clean sheets against us every time to boot. There may be a case for hauling out the sit back tactics Pochettino has employed exactly once, but I’d be shocked to see them. The big question to me is how much to rotate. This game is an oddball in that it’s a PL game on two days rest. So it’s uncharted territory for Pochettino’s rotation policy. Chadli should start, I think. I would think we would also start players who are barely second choices at this point, meaning Davies and Townsend. I would rather we didn’t start Fazio in this game but wouldn’t be surprised to see him. I was taking a glance at the stats, and sure enough, he’s second in the league in aerial duels won, and in the top ten in clearances. The problem, of course, is that his lack of pace makes him liable to get caught out in our high pressing system. Dier looks to be a much better fit. Lloris Walker Dier Vertonghen Davies Mason Bentaleb Townsend Eriksen Chadli Kane
I'd go with zero rotation and play the same team that started Saturday- a team with confidence who played well. Why change anyone?
agree, lets rotate/rest for West Ham. That is our best chance of getting 9 points out of a tricky 3 games. Its also might be the best chance of losing the next two. Audere est Facere
This is a tough one to select a team as no one really deserves to be dropped and tbh probably don't need to as there is a 9 day break after for the to rest. Saying that I would be making 2 changes myself which would be Chadli > Lamela & Stambouli > Mason. Reason for Chadli is to give us a decent width on the left and so we can move Eriksen behind Kane. Move Mason to the bench as that was a major effort he put in and has just been coming back from injury. Lloris Walker Dier Verts Rose Stambouli Bentaleb Dembele Eriksen Chadli Kane Really need to press this Liverpool high up as the back 3 and holding CMs aren't great on the ball and prone to make mistakes. I'm assuming Sturridge will be starting with sterling Coutinho behind which Stambouli will need to watch the latter two. Should be another cracking game and IF we can get a win we will be looking very healthy
Lots of speculation that stirling is not accepting liverpools latest contract offer...seems real madrid have been setting their sights on him!
Having just sobered up after Saturday's game I'm on the way up to liverpool for another post game celebration (I hope!!) I'd leave the team as it is, they've earned another game after that performance on Saturday. I'd happily keep lamella in as his work rate, tracking back and tackling is more effective than either Townsend or Chadli. C.O.Y.S
When Spurs are settled we give Liverpool a game. When Spurs are not settled, we don't give Liverpool a game. Spurs are settled.
