First team sheet in for the new season, must say I'm surprised Kulu didn't get the nod after his pre-season. Big pressure on Johnson to deliver now, we all know he can, it's just does he?

I imagine it’s Madders he’s fighting against for a starting place to be honest.

Maddison needs to start the season well. Bergvall or Kulu could easily start ahead of him.

Mikey Moore should have been on the bench ahead of Werner

Can't see a lot wrong with the first XI or the bench.
There'll be some disappointed at missing out and there bloody should be. Plenty of games to prove your point.

That bench actually looks like there’s a bit about it rather than seeing the same tired old names, Emerson, Bryan, lo celso etc

Probably better for him to come off the bench in a home game.

Too soon I think. That's a very strong bench and I can see Mikey featuring on the bench in the next few games - probably starting with a home game :emoticon-0148-yes:

I would have started Kulusevski in Johnson's place. But Johnson was last year's big signing. 15 G + A as a mostly starting RF is decent, if not particularly good. I guess Ange wants to give him a shot at a big year, which would be very helpful.

It comes down to the clash of long term (win a big trophy in a few years by loading up on 18 year olds) and short term (get CL by improving the squad this year) strategies which Solanke epitomizes. I don't blame ENIC, as both strategies seem worthwhile. I am disappointed Kulusevski at striker won't, it seems, get much of a run. If he is a top six striker, it greatly improves the squad, since you solve one problem (poor CF) with another (what to do with one of your best players who doesn't fit the system as a winger).
