I don't think that he had anyone to give the ball too, though. Solanke's double-marked, IIRC. He didn't have a good game, but he wasn't the disaster that a lot of people are suggesting either, in my opinion.
I was equally baffled by it. It looks like he is overthinking. I get the same impression from a lot of the players tbh. It can be the result of being too wedded to a particular system with very specific patterns of play. He was clearly looking up to see where Sarr was, and when he saw that he wasn't anywhere near him, he panicked. A winger of old would have knocked it past the defender and just bombed it.
He was definitely a disaster that night. Even if Solanke was marked, run the wing, worse that can happen is either a good tackle, failing that he can get further down the line to then either cross, shoot or even win a corner. Needs to grow a pair of bollocks.
This is why I wonder if it’s tactical. Where individuality isn’t encouraged and it’s more about creating a team goal all the time. Sure if you have the players Pep has it works - and works tremendously but there are times where a player just needs to use their brain. This is what I’m hoping Odobert is about. I’ve only seen the YouTube comps but he seems willing to take players on. We need these sort of mavericks to put fear in opposition.
I said during the game that there wasn't nearly enough spontaneity in our attacking play. Micky-Maddison-Son was the combination over and over again. A better side than Leicester would have dealt with it comfortably and exploited its predictability. This is where I think Kulusevski is struggling. He is at his best when basically left alone and allowed to trust his instinct. As soon as he is put in a specific tactical box, he also overthinks, spends too long on the ball and either loses possession or passes it backwards.
Does anyone want to bring up that corner that ended up going all the way back to Vicario, or should I not mention it?
I watched most of the game again lastnight ( insomnia ) I liked what I saw with Solanke , considering the short Amount of time he has had with the team he found space and decent positions
Son's is the more concerning imo. Maddison was usually operating outside the box, and doing so relatively effectively. But for a player of Son's quality and experience to have 10 touches in the opposition goal and not provide a goal or at least an assist is very concerning. Also, Willy Smallbone has the best name in football.
Any news on Porro's ankle injury , past history with our club has been that the player will miss one game , 3 weeks later they undergo an operation and they are out for half the season
I think no news should hopefully be taken as good news because one of our top journos would’ve surely said something by now. Might just have been an impact injury, I’m no expert but the way he was limping did seem like he’d just taken a bad whack.
I know someone who went and they said that the home fans were practically silent until they equalised. Can't say that I'm surprised, as the first half was utterly one-sided. Very annoying that we threw it away.
Do they still give out those Flappy Clapper things at the KP , if so their fans should be thrashed with them
