Given that the relative positions of players (and the ball) can change by 10cm between frames you would think the lawmakers would have had to include some margin for error in the process....does anyone know whether the lines are drawn taking that into account so as to give benefit to the attacker?

Personally I think any wholesale change and especially Poch leaving will make matters worse. Man U and Arsenal have spent more than us for worse results. This group of players may not be good enough but getting better ones is not trivial.

As I said after the City one, the PGMOL shouldn't be using technology if they don't know the margin of error. If they do, then both lines should be drawn in that thickness, with any overlap making the attacker onside.

It's not even just the distance in between the frames. There are 2 other points where errors come into play, the frame the ref chooses can be wrong(or even have no conclusive answer) and there's the accuracy to which they can pin point the furthest part of the body.

This is all well beyond the result today as all teams are at the mercy of these same rules but it does seem ridiculous that they're treating something with such obvious flaws as 100% accurate. Meanwhile players are getting chopped down and VAR's covering it's eyes saying "woah, there's no way can call this either way". It's a clusterfuck that makes the match going experience worse without actually adding much.

Love Poch. Think what he has achieved for us with this group of (mostly) young players over the past 5-6 years has been incredible. But there's been a notable regression in the parts of our game that were great, and no progression in the parts that seriously need it.

All great love affairs sadly come to an end, and I think the fire in this one is burning out fast. I think for the good of everyone, it's seriously looking like time for a change if this doesn't turn around very soon. It pains me to say it but I can't ignore what is staring me straight in the face. I can't watch this brand of football for much longer.

But what is the point of changing if things won't get better? In the first half of the last four matches we've played quite well. For some reason we suddenly seem prone to having 30 minute bad patches.

That's especially true when they're picking a point on a player that's basically invisible.
Attacking player's white shirt or defender's white shorts?

That looks like his arm, to me. Certainly more of his arm than Sissoko's handball, for example.
I can't tell very well though, as it's white against white. It's basically guesswork as to where Son ends and Evans starts. Ludicrous.

No one can be certain of what affect a change will or won't have. All I see is the same mistakes repeating over and over, and we don't seem to learn.

A wise man was claimed to have said the definition of insanity is repeatedly doing the same things expecting different results.

As I said in the first place when VAR was to be introduced. It will spoil the game and it is. We have mostly benefited from it's decisions so far but the nonsense that it will take the doubt out of decisions is proven wrong. Ask City, ask Ajax and now ask us.

The insane thing to do with a manager who has just delivered your best ever sequence of PL finishes and a CL final is to sack him based on a few matches.

Have you seen our league results since January? Don't let a fortunate and at times, flukey CL run paper over the gaping cracks.

VAR is flawed, you can not go around making millimetre decisions by using a skewed camera angle. In no way is today`s offside a `clear and obvious` error, which is what we were led to believe VAR is there to overturn. If it`s not clear and obvious it stays with the on pitch officials is what we thought the protocol is, but apparently not where Spurs are concerned.

I thought Rose should have had a penalty today also, but VAR saw no reason to over turn the referee, the same as in the Newcastle game when Kane was deliberately taken down, clear and obvious errors not over turned, yet they over turn a fractional offside with evidence provided by a skewed camera angle.

The longer VAR goes on, the more it is becoming clear that it is just a tool used to benefit their favourite clubs and for referees to hide behind.

That's what I meant by a few matches. You need about 200 to judge properly not 20 or so....

The skew isn't the issue. With modern technology that can easily be adjusted for. The issue is that the measurement still has uncertainties and these should be to the benefit of the attacker.

Ok, let's give Poch 5.2 league seasons and then judge him... how long has he been at Spurs again?

That’s quite insulting to suggest we have all been imagining things since the beginning of 2019

By no means are people’s reactions knee jerk and I think fans are entitled to be disgruntled...it’s about standards.

Happy to do that. He has the best record of any Spurs manager in the PL. If we keep him another 5 years he probably still will. If we sack him it is much more likely we will revert to average.

You give Poch 200 games like he has had his last 35 and you will have us playing against Bradford and Newport County in the league

See my later reply......Anything less than 100 matches is too few.
You can be as disgruntled as you like but please don't ask for things that will make it even worse.

My whole point is that those matches are too short to draw that conclusion. I've seen us play 1000 matches without Poch as manager since 1995 and I know what the outcome is. All clubs change managers too often....

You have to feel your way through life sometimes...and the environment at our club in the last year has become one that is not congruent with success.

No amount of statistics and numbers will show that.
