True Bri.....as usual my only concern is our team getting dismantled in the long run so as much as we have improved etc...I don't think some of the players care as they think they could get moves to clubs who are already on the next level. I as a fan don't buy Into their thinking because ultimately their individual lapses would occur in any team....you don't need to have Messi on your team for you to put your chance away...however footballers seem to think like that.

We sell a few then get the wedge then we are re building again....who hits the ground running? Not the calibre we go for. Having said all that, it's still as you say....we are still in the hunt for 2-4 and maybe we should go all out for the cups.

So Poch said we are going for the big ones...we won't be getting the league...the CL...really? Just go and try to win the FA Cup, Poch, please!

Why are we starting seasons so slowly and why isn't our squad deep enough to handle a few injuries, albeit rather important ones?

Everything that everyone is saying is true. I think it’s just seemed worse in the last few games because the poor performances and results have all come at once. And none of us can understand how we can go from being so good, to so ****. Considering the injuries we’ve had to key players, we’re doing ok. And if we’re honest, we’ve actually been quite lucky with injuries over the last couple of seasons, and have even said that in the past.

We’ve got the quality of players to turn this round, but I think one of the most frustrating things it still seems like the squad is light in certain areas. It just always seems to feel like we’ve missed a trick, and that trick could come in handy when we face adversity. As others have said, losing players like Kane, Alderweireld, Wanyama and others through injury would cause a huge problem for any side. The fact that the schedule has been so busy that we haven’t been able to rotate due to these injuries is the reason we’re seeing what we’re seeing, IMO.

We’re in a nice position now though with Lamela coming back to give some of our other midfielders a kick up the arse, and allow us to change shape.

But as others have mentioned regarding Sissoko and giving Edwards a chance, I’m starting to believe KWP deserves the same. MOTM in his first and only game for us against Newcastle, where he was superb. He hasn’t had a look in since, and Trippier and Aurier aren’t doing anything of note to keep him out of the side at the moment. He must be wondering what he’s gotta do to get a game.

Remember a bloke like him back in very early 1990s. We were playing Man City and he spent the first half slagging off Nayim until he scored...then he started on Lineker until he scored and if my memory is right he stsrted on Gazza until he scored...I never get slagging any players off at a game...seems a sure way to destroy their performance.
I think most of the criticism (bar one poster, who has me on ignore so this won't antagonise them ) on here is pretty constructive...even if we disagree with each ther...apart frm that chump who always predicts we'll lose and is very negative during the match day threads <whistle>

  8. With Sissoko, I think it’s a case of “Torres Syndrome.”

Levy wants to get his money back and that isn’t going to happen with Sissoko sitting on the bench.

It would be great to offload him in January, and then I think we’ll see Edwards getting his chance.

First time I've ever disagreed with you,NSS. That Varney goal was sheer luck. He was trying to control it and the ball hit the end of his boot and looped over Loris, shocking both of them.He was looking at the ball not the goal.....

In the meantime we waste another season....the best players in our team get a year older, a little bit itchier. You know, every facking season there is something that needs sorting out for us to achieve something else. We've got a group of first teamers who think they are untouchable and get away with volleying it wide from 5 yards when hitting the target was easier. Eriksen has been dog **** since he hit a hat trick for Denmark and there is no one breathing down his neck...but Levy wants his money back..in this business you can't always get your money back.

I sometimes get the feeling that this club is happy being the nearly men because that's an improvement on being absolute ****.

This season we are going for the big trophies don't y'all know? Yet we can't buy anyone and a space in our team is taken due to someone being in the shop window for January. If you want to win the big un's you don't have space for someone you want to offload. Then we stick our noses up at the lesser trophies and get stuffed by teams that are always ****.

Boardroom seems a bit confused if you ask me. This takes me back to when Redknapp made that comment about Spurs fans being ungrateful for wanting more than a gung ho season in the CL. I get the feeling Levy tells the gaffers that we, the fans, should be grateful for what we are getting at Spurs...because we were **** when he came and being 'nearly men' is an improvement.

    Sorry Levy...I want a facking trophy <ok>

    Bravo!

The money will always talk, we know that. Even when it shouldn’t.

Remember how the Chavs suffered as Mad Dod forced manager after manager to persevere with Torres, so that he could get his £50m back, even though we could all see that the player was shot?

Mad Dog even brought in Benitez against the clear wishes of the fans to try to make it work, those are the extremes to which chairman will go to protect their assets.

I have no doubts that Poch is being forced to play Sissoko. It’s the only way to explain why he keeps picking him when he has other viable options available.

The risk of throwing someone like Edwards or TAB in the deep end is that whereas the vast majority of fans will be incredibly patient and supportive of them, a couple of bad performances leading to damaging results and we have no idea what that will do to their confidence in the long run.

The PL is such a merciless, unforgiving place. It is a one in a million shot that a player turns up at the age of 19 and sets it alight a la Dele.

I would much rather Sissoko bear the cross on his ample frame than youngsters who haven't even played a competitive cup match against minor opposition.

The same logic that we use to defend young players like GKN and Janssen vis-a-vis suffering irreversible damage to their confidence applies tenfold to players who have grown up with Spurs in their blood and care for the club more than anything. They need to be managed carefully and delicately.

I am a very bad loser, I have been moody and annoyed since Tuesday and have only read the majority of this thread today. Whilst other defeats have annoyed me in the last 18 months, none of them have left me so annoyed with the actual performance it was almost like watching Christian Gross’s side we were that poor. Fair play to RCL for making me smile throughout reading the comments this morning. And now I feel that I can add by two penneth to the mix.

The squad remains too small expecting Eric Dier to be both a midfielder and a centre half is proving impossible, he can play both roles well, but he is having to play every match (for club and country) and he needs a break from 2 matches a week. Any team would miss Toby and Victor and whilst we were coping initially the lack of depth in these positions is now killing us. Dembele may also be finished as a big match player and we didn’t see that coming in the summer either. Sissoko is just not good enough.

Other than Son we also still lack a genuine game changer from the bench. Lamela coming back is great but he will not be match fit (to Pochs level) for starting matches until January at the earliest and whilst additions can be made in January that might be too late.

I agree with those advocating changes to the system and players for Saturday – 4-2-3-1 or maybe even 4-4-2 playing one of either Rose or Aurier as a winger with Son on the other side Alli and Dier in central MF with Kane and Llorente up top it really can’t be any worse than what we were served up at the KP.

When our boys return from injury I can see putting the spoke in a lot of teams wheels.Should be quite upsetting for a few above us!
