A clean sheet on Thursday could be very important, but I think we'll see Villas-Boas making a few changes at the back and resting a few others, despite wanting to win the competition. He's done so quite often this season already and I think he'll continue to do so with so many fixtures coming so close together. Holtby, Gallas, Caulker and Friedel will almost certainly start, in my opinion. Might be an opportunity to rest Lennon? Not sure.
Anyone know what stage Dempsey is at and when we can expect him back? Might be useful for this game if we are going to rest one of Lennon or Bale...
I think that Villas-Boas said he'd be out for a week or two before the West Ham game, so he must be due back relatively soon, WY.
(i know this cant happen) But im hoping this game goes to extra time, then extra extra time. The Tottenhams team bus takes a wrong turning before breaking down in Azerbaijan. Bale quits football to become Azerbaijans next entry in Eurovision. The rest of the team crawl back to London, hop on a train to Liverpool and get there sunday, just in time to get smashed by us 6-0...lol In all seriousness though, as much as i dislike some Spurs fans, as a british team that are in Europe without substantial investment, ill be hoping you get a positive result.
Even though I was underwhelmed when we signed him, I still thought he would be better then hes been, was at least expecting more of an impact, but maybe hes one of these players that is better suited to a small club with low expectations.

To be fair to them though Spursguru, a few other fans did call them out for those comments and point out that they were talking ****. Poisonous attitude, but I'm glad that it's not universal amongst their fans.
"**** Bale tbh. He's fast, but he has no charism, no technic, no football IQ (or he's not very high), the real guy who raped us in 2011 was Modric. Bale was just "I push the ball and run, run" while Modric was making love to all our midfielders." I really hope Bale shows them just how far he has come, and that some of our other players (ADE!!!!) step up for this.
Haha, brutal Boss!! But to a certain degree, I know where you're coming from. He works hard and there's been a big improvement, but there's just something about him that doesn't quite work for me. I feel he's a waste of a starting place in the first 11, but a decent enough squad player. His work rate is ideal when the oppositions legs get tired late on, though.
What does a player's charisma have to do with football? Wayne Rooney has the charisma of a toad's arse, but that hasn't affected his earning power or convinced referees that he wasn't fouled in a month of Sundays.
Me too. He's just not clicked in at all, I've been taken back by his poor ability on the ball under pressure and to make things worse a lot of his shooting has been poor for someone that was striking the ball so well last season. Like Sigurdsson, I think he'll benefit from some time on the bench and playing out wide and cutting in. I didn't like either on the left before but now we've got a natural left back in Benny it should improve, especially with Bale or Holtby in the middle and moving out to the wing at times.
I just think sigurdsson is a more gifted player. Both struggled to settle and show evidence of their displays at previous clubs, but there's no denying that sigurdsson has had far less opportunities until recently. I have a feeling that he could be the next player to show us how by working hard, you get rewarded under AVB. Dawson was the first, but sigurdsson appears to be following suit. FairPlay to him. His confidence appears to be growing game by game, at a very vital time for the club as we enter the business end of the season.
Siggy does look short on confidence, or is it a case that his form at swansea was just temporary form? as remember O'Hara, he went out on loan and played a blinder each week with portsmouth. Not that I'm saying they are similar players, but some players just show class form in short periods at smaller clubs (no disrespect). Siggy was superb in pre season, but again how many players perform in pre season? David Bentley! Hopefully its just a confidence issue, but there is a chance he doesn't have as much potential as we all assumed.
