Hard to play against 10 men?
How many times have a team with 10 men won this season? Think only we did...and west ham also only had 10 men!

Chris coleman is such an arse...remember him as fulham manager complaining that a linesman correctly gave a a spurs player onside as he couldnt see it clearly!
The interviewer on 5live ask if coleman agreed it was a correct decision (cos coleman was incoherently ranting) and he said yes...but he shouldnt have given it <doh>

Being two points off of 4th really is incredible when you consider how bad we've played. It leaves a glimmer of hope as to what will be should our group of players decide to work well together and give 100% each game. The talent is there but the desire and commitment is very questionable. Get the right blend and we can still make this a half decent season.

As for the game, **** first half, it was inevitable one of the former lads would score against us. The sending off was soft but justifiable, similar to Beckham and Simeone, it's petty but ultimately to kick out like that will only result in one thing if the ref/ linesman spot it. We played really well in the second, no doubt the red helped but Lennon's introduction and Eriksen's growing influence would've done damage against a full 11. 3 points away from home is always a great 3 points regardless of circumstances.

Next Sunday I turn a quarter of a century so here's helping Spurs bring me 3 points as a nice birthday present.

Being 2 points off fourth is nothing because so many teams are close to fourth. It's a melee.

I thought that Chiriches had a good half, but he wasn't really up against anything defensively.
Put in some very dangerous crosses though, so I'd like to see him given another shot at right-back.

In the grand scheme of things we're actually not far off course, despite playing really ****, so we have reasons for optimism, especially with January not too far away.

You on the other hand are playing the best ever football you'll see and if it continues, it will only result in yet another exodus of players (possibly staff too) once the big clubs come calling come the end of the season. Enjoy it while it lasts <ok>.

Thanks for the award by the way, we'll stick the hash tag in our trophy cabinet.

Playing 10 men can be hard when you're behind because its easy for them to be organised and sit deep because they don't need to offer a goal threat. Pundits and commentators blaming Vertonghen when he was tripped up has me lost though I'm afraid. If you don't want to risk getting punished then don't trip opposition players up when you're on the floor.

And yes PNP, it seems that at RB Chiriches > Dier

Best 45 mins of the season by a mile. He's probably better suited as a full back when you think about it. He's useless in the air and his tackling is still to be desired but he has some sort of defensive awareness while having the pace to get back and forth quite well, plus like you say he put in some good crosses and we've seen time and time again that his ball control/ technique is better than the usual defender.

We may have use for Vlad afterall!

  12. At RB Chiriches > Dier > Naughton...... thought he had a really decent half.
    At LB Davies > Rose
Probably unfair to be too critical of the central defence as they haven't exactly much game time together, but Fazio worries the hell out of me. <yikes>
Lennon made a big difference: a speedy right winger playing on the right wing..... Who would have thought of something that radical??

Willingly take the 3 points, but that is another 'papering over the cracks' exercise.

3 important points but with the same questions will persist as the performance wasn't there in the first half. Second half was much better and unlike Stoke and Villa, where I think we looked desperate in our play in the second half(even though we scored), we really dominated, played great football and created a number of good chances. Playing against a side like Hull with 10 men takes away their attacking threat but they will still make it as difficult as ever to score so the way we went about creating a number of chances was really promising.

I'm a big fan of Bruce but I thought the way he spoke about Vertonghen at the end was totally out of order. I expected he'd disagree with the sending off and would be frustrated as they should've had a point on the balance of play but to tear into Vertonghen like that is totally out of order. What the f** was Jan supposed to do? He was walking away when Ramirez kicks out and he falls down, gets straight back up and appeals to the referee. If he thinks his players would've reacted any better he's deluded. Ultimately it's a red any day, you can't kick out at an opponent, if you let that go then Vertonghen has a right to kick back too and then it escalates and gets out of hand, that's why you have zero tolerance for it. Besides his side were rough all game and should've had Livermore sent off. The officials made a lot of poor decisions today but that wasn't one.

I think the extra money this season has made it a lot more competitive. There aren't any easy points in the league(apart from when QPR play Ferdinand), every team has the potential give anyother team a go.

I am also a fan of Bruce and also found his comments disappointing. For me, it was a definite red and the more times I see it played back, the more definite it looks. Yes, it was more petulant than malicious, but the laws of the game do not cut any slack on this, so it is a red card.

Tommy and Jake were wound up for this from the start and seemed to being have a private competition between them to see who could get a yellow card first and I suspect Tommy's withdrawal might have been diplomatic as much as tactical.

The decision that should be focused on, from a Hull point of view, is the freekick for the first goal. You could see their 'keeper having to peer around Soldado in the replays so he really should be given offside. They never do seem to be given though and I think the refs and linesmen have to communicate more because they're both only getting half the view(lino on the offside and ref whether the player's interfeering) so they never seem to get given.

  18. It was a win, and I am very glad of it, but there's no hiding from the fact that we still didn't look convincing.

Then again, neither Arsenal nor 'Pool have looked convincing all season, so the problem is not solely Spurs-related.

Let's hope we manage to get it together quicker than either of those two sides.

Gillingham beat Crawley with 10 men ---after being 0-1 down,
In their next game, Gillingham , again with 10 men, beat Orient - again having been 0-1 down

<justsaying>.... I shall now go away.

Hoddle, bollox to Arsenal and Liverpool, I'm not giving them a second's notice because it's us we need to concentrate on.

I'm on my ventilator SD. Happy with the win but not the manner of the win. To be convincing I wanted 0-2 and the fact that we were behind for so long worries me still. We need to take the lead in matches instead of playing catchup all the time.

    NICE points alwaysright NICE.
