I only got back from work and caught the last 20 minutes and thought we looked the better team. Think I got the best part of the match by far! I’ll take that though and I’m proud of the boys spirit. They are a decent team and even at full strength it would have been tough. At home we may have nicked a draw at the end. No real harm done though as long as we get 3 points on Sunday. I was at the West Ham game and going to this one so hopefully more of the same
Something to bear in mind is that Galatasaray didn't have a game on the weekend so that they could prepare for this one. Their last match was on the 28th of October against Besiktas and we played City and Villa since then. We had to rotate and switch things up, while they were at 100% and had their strongest side available. I'd be interested to see how things would go with our best side against theirs. I suspect we'd put in a better performance, at least. You have to say that their depth was pretty decent, though. Some names on the bench.
Nice to see Solanke with another goal. His confidence must be really high right now. Is Spence fit as Porro looks like he could do with a rest?
agree. Would also add that whilst they have some strong attacking players, defensively they were barely tested by us, and when we did, they conceded 2. With our strongest defence, and our best 11 overall, I’d be confident of beating them in all honesty.
He did it tonight and we know he can do it, but we have to accept that he hasn't been doing it anything like aa consistently as he should. He had a great 2nd half on Sunday and was excellent as a sub this evening. Can he now convert that back into 90 minutes in the PL? I hope so!
Players need to play to gain consistency that's not easy with the squad system so we need to bear that in mind
I know but we have to keep our rules which have worked well. Take the piss out of the post not the poster.
I've just seen it pointed out that we've had two players sent of in the Europa League this season and scored 4 while conceding 0 afterwards!
