What a force of nature Delli Alli is! I thought he reminded me of a young Paul Pogba a while ago. This kid could be even better!
Tomorrows sports reports will be all about United and Pool getting through - oh, and Spurs made it too.
The BBC's Live commentary (on its website) was an absolute disgrace! Not one single mention of the fact that Midgetland is by far the weakest side left in the tournament (before tonight), and United's expensively assemble stars had, effectively, beaten a team comprised of dustmen and gas-fitters. Our match, which was by far the toughest of the three, barely got a mention. This is why I am so desperate for both 'Pool and United to fail, so that the BBC and Sky can be cleansed of their obsession with those two sides.
Mason and Alli were terrific. Great win, shame about the 1 match ban for Alli. When's the draw for the next round?
Tottenham cruising to victory isn't anywhere near as exciting as United and Liverpool making hardwork of easy ties
Alli going forward puts me in mind of Martin Peters. He seems to glide into dangerous positions and provide a threat on nearly every occasion.
Teams in the draw: Braga, Fenebahce, Athletic Bilbao, Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sparta Prague, Lazio, Liverpool, Valencia, Basel, Dortmund, Man Utd, Sevilla, Villarreal, us and one of Olympiakos or Anderlecht. The Greeks currently lead 1-0 in extra-time and 2-1 on aggregate.
Stuck at work tonight, and even the internet is severly restricted here so I am indebted for the regular reports so much faster than the beeb, hope you all enjoyed the match
Excellent overall performance. So only Spain and Spurs have perfected the 'false 9' system, eh? Lovely to see Mason back in full flow. This is the first time since he got injured against Sunderland that he's truly looked 100% and I'll reiterate my pre-match comments: he has seriously stepped up a level this season and could well be crucial as we enter the squeaky bum end of the season. Wimmer, dangerous tackle aside, gets better by the game whilst our defense is demonstrably better when Toby plays. I was very impressed with Eriksen's work rate and industry after I laid into him last match. Honestly not a single bad performance aside for the twat of a referee and as others have already noted, we made one of the strongest teams in the game look distinctly ordinary. Last 16 there will be some massive names to go up against but I for one am relishing the challenge and without question we'll be the team everyone else wants to avoid
Our old mate Achaempong just equalised for Anderlecht from a ridiculous angle. Keeper unsighted by his own defender, but that's a lovely finish. 1-1 on the night, 2-2 on aggregate. Could go to penalties.
The Belgian fans are singing "Everywhere we go" in Athens in English! That's so weird. We've nicked enough Belgians, I guess. Pretty sure they pinched that from us, though. Hardly original, admittedly. Still odd to hear.
1-2 on aggregate. Pens could only come with the result the same after 90 mins, don't get extra time except for the exact equal score
