Indeed it is. Although to start with all four suggests either a paucity of numbers in the squad or that they aren't concerned about the outcome tonight. Personally I think it might be a bit of both. The format for this tournament now probably means that clubs in our position target a certain number of must-win ties to accumulate enough points to progress.
Spurs away record in Europe isn’t great so this isn’t a gimme at all but Ange needs to give fringe players proper minutes and it makes sense to do it now than in the league or domestic cups.
Wow.. that line up! Would have like to see Johnson or Kulu in place of Werner, purely because they are both in form, and to compliment the trust shown in Lankshear and Moore, but still. Great to see so much youth being given a chance! I hope this pays off and isn’t one of those “too many wholesale changes” scenarios we’ve seen in the past! COYS
Bold selection that I hope Ange is rewarded for, but it's a big step up to start against a team that are no mugs. I hope that if they are found a little wanting tonight that they are not just cast aside.
To echo what’s been said, great seeing Ange finally going a bit ballsy and handing some proper game time to the academy players but the almost wholesale changes does make it feel like we’ll see a disjointed performance against a team that definitely aren’t mugs and I hope it doesn’t affect how well Moore and Lankshear (plus others) can play. Really hope it pays off though, very excited especially to see Mikey get some significant game time.
If these lads do put on a decent show this evening and, even better, get a result, then that will hopefully answer a few of questions hanging over their youth and relative immaturity.
1. I refer you to Arry 2011-12. 2. IMHO the EL home ties are the best places to try such starting XIs (the supporters will get behind the kids) .
Dante Cassanova. His middle name is Jamel too, so he's also DJ Cassanova. Sounds like he should be on Smooth FM or something.
Just to be clear from minute 1 : Werner is THE SENIOR attacking player. He MUST front up today and lead by example.
If anyone thinks that Abu Fani sounds familiar, it's because he was with Maccabi Haifa when we played them a while ago. Mouthed off about Kane before the game, then they conceded to him after about 2 minutes. We won 7-2.
