    This.

It isn't possible or sustainable to maintain all-out attack for 90 minutes, at least certainly not against most PL level opposition.

The best teams use the recuperation time proactively, slowing the tempo of the game and controlling possession, frustrating the opposition and causing them to tire due to constantly chasing the ball.

We aren't very good at that part of the game.

First things first. Everton were ****ing awful.
Their squad has the depth of a puddle and we've got players that will never, ever play for us that would start for them.
Reguilon and Lo Celso would walk into that side.

I actually felt sorry for the travelling Everton fans. They deserve better.
Big club, great history, **** owners. Embarrassing.
Sean Dyche will do very well to keep them up.

With that out of the way, our lot did a very solid job.
Not perfect, by any means, but some very promising performance and a great result.
Odobert's debut was fantastic for the first hour. Some incredible ball control and great runs at defenders.
Kulusevski slotted into a new role like a natural and terrorized their defence. Lovely touches and humiliated his markers at times.
Son's finishing is still truly top tier, as are Romero's headers on set-pieces. Nobody else and he had a free run, but they all count.

We bounced back well from a very disappointing result at Leicester.
We need to build on it in the next couple of games, which will be a far sterner test.

Reserve judgement on a guy who’s consistently smashed in goals for us for about a decade and doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon?

    Fair enough.

It was definitely one of those debuts that gives you the feeling we could have a real crowd pleaser.

It’s the sort of style all football fans love, every time Bale/ Lennon got the ball we'd stand up and that debut from Odobert had that sort of vibe.

Will need to hope that going forward he can add an end product to his game but definitely liked what I saw yesterday.

He’s a fantastic **** house to be fair, a shame in a way he’s not a better player than what he is.

He’s had Man Utd, Arsenal and our own fanbase on strings during his time in the Prem, type of player where if they play for you they’re adored, when they don’t, they’re despised <laugh>.

    Highlights:

We had two players on the pitch that could head a ball when the 3rd went in. Who was supposed to be marking Romero? Free run.

I'm not going to agree with Maupay about this, but how do they think this is helpful?
One of the players getting slaughtered is Mason Holgate, who didn't even get on the pitch.

I didn't see Saturday's game, so can't comment on their effort levels. However, I recall our relegation season in '77, but don't remember too much getting on the players' backs (Ian Moores excepted).

Along with most others on The Shelf, I accepted that the majority of players weren't really very good. Everton supporters would be best off doing the same and trying to rally round them...or they could try booing them. It seems to be helping the opposition more these days...?

I didn't notice any lack of effort, just a complete lack of quality and a rather depleted squad.
Starting numbers 75 and 42, while having 44 and 45 on the bench speaks to both their injury situation, as well as a lack of depth.

There's a depression hanging over the club and it extends to their players and the fans.
Understandably quiet visitors watching a team that's offering them nothing to make noise about.
Those that stayed offered a reciprocated round of applause for their side plus Richarlison, who gave his shirt to a young Evertonian.

TBH I hate it when fans behave like that...grown arse adults screaming abuse knowing they won't get a beating.

But Maupay is equally stupid. I wonder what his response would be to " can you imagine another job where you have under performed for years, so badly that you manager doesn't want you, but still keep you job and are paid more per week than than most people are paid per year?"

Couldn't have sounded more out of touch if he tried.

I think he's just making excuses because he clearly wants to leave, which is why he didn't get on the pitch on Saturday.

He thought it funny to publicly take the piss out of a player not going to the euros but cries when it don't go his way.
