    The less said, the better.

3 points is all I care about at this stage.

There were some very poor performances out there today. Particularly from the 30 minute mark.
The usual suspects who we know are just not up to it, but also some really weak play and poor decision making by some who know better.

We won. That's the best of it.
    Merry Xmas everyone! <cheers>

Mad to think we still haven’t yet seen these two in the starting XI together.

Providing no further set backs once they return, that midfield is going to be better to watch than porn. Could be huge for the business end of the season.

    Is Maddison at the darts?
Van der Ven was. He took on Russ Bray (darts ref/caller) in a 9 dart challenge. I don’t know if he walked out to some techno music like many of the other Dutch players.
It’s just not Christmas without the darts.

Having Sarr, bentancur and Maddison as a midfield three would give us so much more control. Having players who can take the ball in tight spaces and not panic, is what you need at this level. Kulu has done a good job but he’s much more effective up front. With that behind him and son and Richy (in this form) will be game changing. We just about got away with it today but on another day we easily could have lost this.

Just seen the Danjuma /Vicario incident, hit the underside of the bar and bounced onto Vics thigh, that was a let off , it makes up for some of the OGs and the west ham pick ups

I just can’t wait to see Bentancur back, especially alongside Maddison.

He’s just after Sonny as my favourite player (and probably our second best too). Literally good at everything, doesn’t have a single weakness in my opinion, would’ve given Kane a run for his money last season for our POTY had he not gotten injured.

Luckily for us, given he's probably going to be walking Ashley Phillips or Alfie Dorrington through a game or two at this rate...

Yeah I agree it’s not fair to lump him under that brush. Great squad player to have.
The fact we may only be 4 points off top at Christmas given everything that has happened since the end of last season, is nothing short of miraculous.Getting players back and getting in a couple of players who can come in without the massive drop in quality that we currently have to deal with, could make us very competitive come the business end of the season.

Perfect result in the Liverpool Arsenal game, too. Essentially 2 points dropped for both teams.

mad to think we picked up 1 point in 15 not so long ago, and we’re still only 4 points off the top of the league.

After the next match round, for Spurs to still be only
4 pts off top at the halfway point of the season,
would be quite a good performance.

Well I didn’t have to walk home at least <laugh>

Good to be back though, cracking opening 30minutes and the rest of it was anxiety inducing.

Sadly his one glaringly obvious weakness is his weakness. He's missed half the games he could've played since joining.

This aint a dig at anyone but am surprised at some of the comments here (and at the match).

Re Davies...he has been close to being play of the match in a couple of recent games and was very good again today.

Re Romero...he was so poor for big chunks of last season that the crowd got on his case (which I disagreed with at the time)...today he came in and played OK over all. Yes he made mistakes BUT if you are being told to play out from the back even in tight corners then errors will be made. Royal was also involved in some of our stunning moves. Think the criticism is way over the top.

Re Skipp.. played really well imo

    Re the second half...
Firstly Everton had won 5 out of their previous 6 matches. Before today, Everton had only won 7 points less than us. They played some excellent football. They were unlucky in the second half but so we're we in the first half.

Secondly, we are still playing without VDV, Maddison, Solomon and Bentencur (all injured) plus Udogie (suspended).

Thirdly, we simply started to run out of steam in the second half. Our style requires a lot of energy and as we don't have a fully fit squad Son, Porro and Kuluchevski are running on empty and Richarlison played with a bad back today.

Finally, I really enjoyed the game...Everton really played well in the second half but the football we played in the first 30 mins was some of the best I have seen us play live. I loved watching us under pochettino but this was better than even that. To be in this position, watching this quality of football only 5 months into Ange's reign is fantastic.

Well said mate. I’m so happy with where we currently are. I’d much rather play risky good football than what we were served up the last few years. Of course it doesn’t always end as well as today, but better to play like this than a drab game of football where we try to nick a win and more often than not lose

He has.. very well. But not today.
I'm sure it was because he had Emerson as support.
