Son booked for fouling Gomes. Looks like a really bad injury, judging by everyone's reactions.

Attacking players IMHO really are a damage risk when they fly in. :(

Was it son's challenge that caused it?

Right. Looks like we'll need to hold on for at least 20 mins given all the stoppages.

Defensive substitutions, or shall we rely on Eriksen to put in the shift?

Was it Aurier or Son who ****ed Gomes there? Not showing the replays here. It looked savage

Really feel for the player but I genuinely do not see how it was a red.

It's the same as VAR. Decisions are made based on how graphic the outcome is, nothing to do with the actual input.

Gomes broke his leg because he broke his leg. He was thrown off balance because of Son. Other players with stronger bodies would not have suffered a break. But because the outcome was R-rated horror, the ref has to dance to the tune and show a red.

Way I see it, Son’s challenge makes Gomes go into Aurier whose leg then breaks.

It’s Son’s fault in my opinion. Obviously unintentional and you could tell by Son’s reaction but his leg likely doesn’t get snapped if Son doesn’t make that silly challenge.

    Calvert-Lewin replaces Gomes.

    This game is jinxed.
    Just awful on every level.

It was a foul and maybe a yellow but the red card wasn't warranted. That was a reaction to the injury. Terrible injury and wish him well.

And the same would apply if Son had just nudged him in the back. Doesn't make it a red card.

VAR is a completely ****e No way is that a red agree totally with RCL complete sympathy with Gomes but that red card is a knee jerk reaction Yellow at worst and it may not be popular but we must appeal it.

The replay I’ve seen shows a wild slide by Son, but not much contact. It appears that Gomes fell awkwardly. How is it a red? And how did it go from a yellow to a red?
