We could also have quite easily done something like signing Fred and selling Sissoko and been much worse off. No-one knows how the squad morale would have held up if we had made signings. Rejoice in what we actually achieved.
What? On this board? Didn't you realise this board is for moaning (pretty much a quote from one of our members after last week's match)?
I know. It drives me mad. I honestly think that if we went unbeaten all next year and won the quadruple people would be mosning thst we wouldn't have dropped two points at the Emirates if only we had signed Grealish!
No, they wouldn’t. But as someone else pointed out earlier in the thread, we lost 13 premier league games, and 19 games in total. That’s obviously going to open discussion which may result in some moaning/constructive criticism. - Especially as many fans saw this coming a year ago.
Weird game. Decent first half and we should've lead by more. Awful second half and we could've easily lost. Fair play to Everton with their chants of "We're all having a party when Tottenham win the cup" after City took the lead.
No way did I remotely see the 2012 repeat slump coming. Perhaps I will in future now I know the danger signs (coming up to the final third of the season + being in striking range of the PL leader + best players getting threadbare due to injuries + squad players not having had enough competitive game time prior to then) ...
But it isn't constructive criticism in the main, it is slagging off Levy and some of our players, mostly with the benefit of hindsight. There isn't a single poster on here who would have thought it a mistake to sell Sissoko and buy Grealish. I doubt we would be in the CL final if we had. And we've won 33 matches too. Did you see that coming?
It doesn't bother me when people criticise There is something in it..unless someone is making a heap of lies up I couldn't be happy clappy like you and spend the rest of my days thinking 'just take what you get after all we could be Huddersfield' That's not how it works for me
As 'Arry would have said, 4th is a triffic achievement for a club like Spurs. But having come close to winning the league a couple of times in the last 4 years and expecting a points return in the 80s rather than low 70s, failing to sign players has resulted in a predictable regression in PL results. The CL run is a huge bonus, but it doesn't disguise the fact that Spurs squad hasn't been up to the rigours of a PL season - not at the level you want to compete at.
Exactly. If we've lost that many matches, but still got that many points then we must also have won a lot of matches. But that doesn't count, lets just concentrate on the defeats.... WE ARE NEVER GOING TO WIN ALL OUR MATCHES, please let me know what is an "acceptable number". And the Sissoko comments are very relevant - most people would have dumped him before the season started.
Well we didn’t sign anyone for 2 windows. - so some fans are obviously going to have a dig at Levy for that. And to be fair, those comments started to really gain momentum around the beginning of August when we hadn’t signed anyone for the new season, so it wasn’t really hindsight. We knew where we needed to strengthen, and still to this day we need to strengthen the same positions (+ 1 or 2 more). You’re right about Sissoko, no one would have predicted that. Got any other examples than that really obvious one, though? And do you not think Grealish would have been a handy signing, whilst keeping Sissoko? As for the 33 games we won. - I kind of hoped we’d win at least that many, seeing as that’s how many we won last year, too. Would have been nice to have improved on that this season if possible. But Fairplay to the team. No home, no signings to boost the squad, tonnes of injuries... quite astonishing we’re in the CL final and managed to get 4th. It’s been a tough season for many different reasons.
Posters morning at other posters for moaning, probably not realising they’re also moaning when in fact they’re just as bad as the moaners they’re moaning at. Boom. Roasted.
We lost 13 games in the league...that's what you focus on if you want to improve You don't spend the summer celebrating winning 33 games spread over 4 competitions Which out of the 2 do you think Poch will focus on?
