Powerful woman. She will tell FIFA she warped the time-space continuum today in order to "wave" at Kyle Walker.
As I've said before: Sissoko's fine as a footballer unless you want him to kick or head the ball - then it falls apart. Sorry - but I saw so many negative things today for him and most of his completed passes were just useless backwards ones. He's just not very good at football, I'm afraid. I mean seriously - imagine watching that game again and pretending that this Sissoko guy is a youngster from the academy that you've never seen play before. Would you be excited? I bloody wouldn't! Occasionally his team-mates looked a bit pissed off with having to play with someone whose passing was just nowhere near the level required. Anyway - Powerspurs! Wasn't that 2/3 of our goals coming from crosses? 5/7 for the season?! (I'm gonna keep this up, you know)...
Oh yeah - of course. For some reason my mind's video replay of Eriksen's goal started with Davies' shot! So that's 3/3 and 6/7 for the season. Blimey.
I think we'll all agree that Ben Davies had a great game yesterday and I certainly think that our new DoF won't find it easy to regain his place. He was caught out early on in a foot race with a very speedy winger, but otherwise didn't put a foot wrong and was arguably our most effective forward player. Poch's comments are interesting and sum up what he values in his players: "I think he was fantastic, not only today but in the last three seasons from the day he arrived, on the bench, out of the squad or playing, he's a great professional, a great player and a great man. Today he was top," Great to see good old hard work and professional dedication bearing fruit
Good. We want as few shoo-ins in the starting XI as possible. At the moment and seemingly in the near future, we are down to who can provide competitive pressure on Kane/Eriksen/Toby.
Let's be honest, Davies' signing was the kick up the backside Rose needed to play like an actual defender - which in turn was the catalyst for Davies to up his game to get more time on the pitch. Funny how creating competition for a spot in the starting xi works to motivate any player who isn't looking for an excuse to give their agent a lucrative cut of their transfer fee, isn't it?
Finally went to Goodison and left with three points! Waheeeey! View from the pic doesn't look great due to how the Pano has gone but it was actually a brilliant view (minus the pillar!), had a great view of the first two goals and clearly saw the third in the second half. Big Dave already became a fan favourite with a monster display, we were singing the "you can stick Sol Campbell your arse... Because we've got Sanchez at the back" song within 45 minutes. Bullied Rooney and didn't put a foot wrong. Massively excited at how good this guy can be. Alongside Toby and Jan, that's a ridiculously talented back three. Thought Davies and Dier were also excellent, while Eriksen's impressive start to the season continued. Sissoko had one of his best games in a Spurs shirt, too. I think CM suits him far better than RW. Would happily see that Sissoko feature more often. Missed a good chance but I thought his all round game was really impressive, got stuck in, made some nice link up play and generally wanted to be involved in stuff. Perhaps Aurier's signing may have given him a bit of a boost seeing as they've been friends since their time at Toulouse. Complete team performance though, no one let us down yesterday and to go to a side like Everton and boss them for near enough the whole game shows the level we're at when firing on all cylinders. **** August... Right, Harry?
I agree that 2 of the goals came from crosses. But they both needed dire defending and we shouldn't be relying on that. The third goal wasn't a cross it was an excellent pass.
I cant logically answer this Wembley thing or most of Spur's hoodoos We cant find our feet at that place and we have had umpteen chances..yet a team comes and finds their feet in 90 minutes. Harry Kane has 25 shots at goal in August and scores zero he's scored 4 this week! including his first PL goal which was a cross and went in. Something not right in the head. I know i bang on about the head...but these finer points if corrected are the difference between winning the league and finishing 2nd/3rd. I expect our CL hangups to get the better of us this week.
Sanchez does look composed i see the Ledley swagger in him too..and we all give Sissoko stick so it's only fair he gets a mention when playing well. Maybe Poch has been playing him wrong..hes no winger is he? look at the bloke..he should be a goalkeeper or a CM. I think we need to lay off him too incase it affects him. Ultimately we want the best for our team and he can contribute...maybe Poch needs to play him in his best role.
One "Expert" predicted Janssen would be the PL's leading scorer this season, erm. I NEVER listen to them preferring to obey my own instincts.
