We wasted the first hour playing ****e. Pleased we didn't lose but we really should've won comfortably today, disappointed with that.

    The usual Boodison Park result.
Wakey wakey 1st half, got going in the 2nd half.
Great cross + header for the Lamela goal.

Everton running out of steam in the end. Could've ended up winning that easily.

Better result than opening day last season. Still need to give a few of the players a kick up the backside though.

When Rose hoofed it forward near the end, wasn't Jansen pushed away from the ball?

A point is ok but that was pretty poor stuff.
Matched the point we got their last season but we deserved all 3 point then...this time though I think we deserved a point but could not have been surprised if we had lost

We hardly ever win at Goodison. Yeah the performance was a bit naff but at least we didn't lose. Winning at Goodison is rare and would have been a great result.

I'm really not liking the Wanyama/Dier pairing from what we've seen so far. I know it's been well-discussed how hard it is to replace Dembele with a player who is like-for-like but Wanyama in particular didn't seem to want to receive the ball a few times - sort of moving towards opposing players when teammates had the ball rather than using the space and offering an option. Without some knitting together of the 2 in mid with the 3 in attacking mid we look like our full-backs are by far our best chance of creating an attack.

I'd have swapped Wanyama for Janssen myself but overall agreed with the change and it worked. Poch had a plan B now he actually does have another striker and not just someone like bloody Chadli or Mason to come on and change the game!

Janssen has impressed me with what little I've seen so far. Looks very capable of offering more than just goals to the team. Wasn't sure which foot he prefers (wondering about his miss) and just looked it up - just got loads of articles talking about how two-footed he is. He's left-footed but last year got 15 with his left, ten with his right.

Lamela and Walker justifying their places in my FF team though - that's nice. I'm totally buying into the theory that Lamela might really blossom this year (wasn't saying that a year or two ago). And if Janssen starts the next match he's straight into my FF team.

That is called "raising the bar" .
Just like for Arry in 2010-11, the baseline expectation for
    Pochettino has similarly increased.
