I am pleased! this Everton side looked much better against City last week than they have looked against us. Spurs look strong and business like if a little naive once near goal. If we keep this squad intact the futures bright..............................
I really can't understand the team selection. Dier pushed into this holding midfield position at home suggests our back four needs more protection when clearly our problems lie going forward. This Spurs team lacks anyone who can cross a ball, run at defences with pace or make runs to pull players out of position. The attack is based on players with all the same attributes of passing sideways waiting for someone else to act. We have too many players all of the same ilk. Rose has been only one of the players having an impact. He's got stuck in and led by example. Kane's starting to show signs of a player desperately feeding off scraps, shooting when he has little chance of scoring and wasting good opportunities when they do come as they'e so rare. It just goes to show how much we rely on Eriksen. Dembele is still a mystery to me. It's like Poch is desperately trying to find a suitable role for him because he doesn't work centrally, Lamela's clearly out of the running and there's no one else who can play there today. Poch needs to show more purpose and bravery. We're playing at home for Christs sake so get more attacking players on. Bring on Alli for Dier, put Mason back in the middle alongside Bentaleb and start giving the boy Kane better service.
Completely agree...think if kane had scored and if their keeper hadn't made such a good save from mason we'd be 2 up (deservedly imo). Think people are being a little harsh tbh...think our back 4 played very well (although walker has been iffy a couple of times) our midfield have out battled everton and we've created a few decent chances.
Dier is there to add steel to the midfield take that away and Everton will have more of the game. We also have to play who is ready and not chuck youngsters in the deep end too quickly. I don' t think we should under-estimate Everton's strengths and I think MP thinks much the same.
If I recall the Mason + Bentaleb partnership did pretty well handling Chelsea at home last season when we turned them over. I think we should have more faith in them. I'm also one to think that attack is sometimes our best defence if they are constantly going backwards rather than the current war of attrition that we're witnessing. Anyway... 45 minutes to play so let's see what happens. I suspect Alli will come on at some time and I'll get my wish.
Yep because we're set up that way. They've sussed that we're not much threat going forward and now they're pressing us.
Completely disagree...we have created 4 or 5 very good chances and look way more likely to score...hence lukaku going off
