If we get a negative result, I think that there's always going to be criticism. However, on balance, I think most of would rather see us go down trying to be positive, rather than with our arses to the wall.
I would too, but bringing on substitutes in a tight game is pretty much mandatory. We just need to have more firepower available. The way that we started the season with only one fully fit striker, who seemed totally unsuited to both our best system and the favoured system of our manager, was just ludicrous. Adebayor dragged that out, first by no fault of his own, as he was injured, but then via his stupid red against the Goons. That we only have two possible choices in that position is woeful, though.
Its as much the timing of the subs, mostly too early, surely the same 11 can do 80 mins. As is being discussed here, that at this present time for a variety of reasons, any subs will basically weaken us...so why do it with a large part of the game left? It has happened on many occasions when there hasn't been any need, we may not have been playing all that well, but if you're winning, the 'don't fix what ain't broke' has to come into it somewhere. There are of course exceptions, injury, if a player just back from injury is out on his feet etc. but we're not talking about those instances.
I wonder what Spurs coach has drilled into our defence the need to continually back pass to our goalkeeper. I understand that,on occasion, when caught,to give a backpass to the goalie. But the number of times I've seen players take a corner,or reached the opposing penalty area, take three passes back to the goalie. This DOES NOT WIN GAMES! Not for us anyway.....
