I agree with this. But what concerns me is that we don’t appear to do much with the money we receive in order to boost the squad. We should always be progressing IMO.
We’ve had a great group of players for a few seasons now, but with others strengthening by spending obscene amounts, and us at the opposite end of the spectrum literally doing nothing, we are playing a dangerous game. We could be in a very precarious position where we could get left behind, as you say, simply by standing still. That’s my biggest fear, the complacency.

We have spent in excess of £500m on the stadium and training facility in that time. It's different and sensible but not nothing.

I understand that, which is why I was referring to the squad. There’s still a football team who are the ones needed to deliver the revenues for us to pay for those.

Mourinho's gone and United are winning games again....or, as you say, it's drugs.

I'd love us to win cups and the league I'm lucky growing up in an era where we did win cups and loved it but I'm old enough and hopefully wise enough to realise times have changed and football is not what it was back in the 60's and 70s money rules now and unfortunately there are clubs with more financial clout than we'll probably ever have but I won't knock levy he has done fantastic job for our club and we are not going broke like we did a few years ago and nearly forced out of business .I'm prepared to wait until we are in our magnificent new stadium and we have settled in and reaping the financial rewards it will bring the team will get better and we will win things. The younger fans on here wouldn't know what crap football we suffered watching a few years back but we have still stuck with the team through thick and thin and know things are on the up keep the faith lads the good times are just around the corner.TO DARE IS TO DO. we have dared and built a new stadium and soon will come the is to do just be patient ..COYS.

Most. We don't do better financially than the clubs that have hoovered up most of the silverware in recent years.

Take the FA Cup as an example. Since we last won it in 1991 it has only been won by eight teams.
Six of those are the other everpresents, plus City, while Wigan and Pompey managed solitary wins, then paid for it badly.
Both had relatively easy runs to the final, barring a game each, then snuck a 1-0 at Wembley.

The League Cup has had a similar run since we lost won it, with Swansea and Birmingham being the odd teams out.
City, Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool have the rest. The two abberations are also out of the Premier League, again.

Who are these clubs that aren't having the same problems that we are, with any sense of consistency?
Arsenal and Liverpool outspend us massively, but you probably don't count it because it's on wages.

Why's everyone digging out Lidls? I don't see what he's said that's particularly controversial.

Agree. CL is a means to an end, not an end in itself. A vital one though.

The man is being floor-wiped by Spurcat in the Paul Stewart Cup,
and in his anger is trying to take it out on the club.

    Yes indeed. Thanks.
I wasn't even making a point how Spurs are run and what the priorities should be for the club in general.
I looked at a tie against a lowly PL side with your team well set in the top 4 and CL games still a few weeks away and saw a great chance to progress a stage towards winning a trophy. I didn't see any conflict of interest.
It baffled me that the manager would have such a dismissive attitude and leave out players who were available to play in a winnable game.
But there are clearly many Spurs who aren't happy that a chance to win a trophy has slipped away; the rest seem to have been brainwashed.
