That's the real difference that Poch has made, of course. Before him, we were what we always used to be - a team that was great going forward, but ****e in defence. The team that the likes of Fergie used to love playing against. Since Poch, we are far more organised as a defensive unit.
When we've really needed him, he's stepped it up. I voted him my most improved player last season. He'll be starting to come into the POTS reckoning if he keeps this up. Extraordinary.
There are s few who need to look at that attitude and take a look at themselves...... Dele for one.....
Another **** game vs palace. I’m beginning to hate this fixture. Well done to the lads though. Despite how crap the match was, we managed to stay composed (just about). Weather conditions were awful, too. A really hard fought win. Sissoko superb. One of his best games for us. Lucas also great until he was taken off. Foyth with another brilliant performance too. Davies also much better, particularly in the first half. Really tough match for many reasons, but that’s a really important win. I said a while ago to see how we were fixed on 10th Nov, having played 8 “away” games. To have 27 points is amazing. To have 27 points, an obscene amount of injuries, and to not actually be playing very well, is remarkable, quite frankly. The season can’t get any harder than it is right now. Please Daniel, add some fresh faces in January. This squad is going to be on its arse!
Foyth scoring shut Phil Thompson up ✔️ Alli having a good game shut Matthew Upson up ✔️ Sissoko having another good game reduces the ****posting ✔️ Trippier going off calms down the anti-Trippier mob ✔️ Aurier coming on reduces the pro-Aurier ****posting ✔️ Hugo having a worldie indicates Gazzaniga's form is one hell of a motivator ✔️ Wet weather means it's pointless for the locals to build an effigy of our ST/\DIUM so they can burn it ✔️ Wet weather also means the locals won't finish an effigy of our ST/\DIUM before we finish building the real one ✔️
I've always thought that Alli gives a very good account of himself in interviews. That's clearly one of the reasons the club is happy enough to let him give interviews. He always comes across as very articulate and intelligent.
Dele didn't have a great game and Hugo didn't have a worldie - one good save and a few flaps..... But agree with all the sentiments
I think the reason Dele wasn’t up to his usual standards was because Eriksen wasn’t playing. There’s a great understanding between those two that allows Dele to play more freely. He looked a bit lost at times today.
He got the ball in some great open positions, but either didn't make the right pass or stopped the forward momentum. Not sure that's all down to Eriksen's absence?
Alli had to play a different role today with the Sissoko/Wanyama midfield, dropping deeper and starting moves rather than getting on the end of them so much. Not what he is so used to doing for us but good to show another string to his bow to a reasonable degree of proficiency. And I will never stop ****posting about Aurier.
