We have become the total opposite of Chelsea as in we hire manager after manager to prove how **** our team is who next
When Levy used to spend he used to spend the money well. Not only is he not investing enough, but the players signed now are not good enough in my view.
So many shocking performances over 2 legs. A combination of being out-thought tactically at times, lack of depth contributing to tiredness, simple errors, injuries, really just the whole ****ing shebang. There are a few who I’d rather never see in a Spurs shirt again.
Conte: I know it has been widely reported that we lost tonight and played poorly, but I would ask you to allow Sue Grey to complete her enquiry before confirming the result. Thank you.
It's the view of most Spurs fans too. Anyone who reckons Jesse Lingard and Adama Traore are the solutions to this problem needs to have a quiet think about life.
Pile of ****. I’m on the lash for the cousin’s birthday and good job I am. Can’t stand not having fight for games like this but I also half expected it. Didn’t like the selection from Conte but I doubt it would’ve made much of a difference overall if he got it spot on. Felt Kane was the only one to truly turn up today, won a lot of duals and tried linking play. Lucas and Sanchez to a lesser degree done okay too. If that weren’t a wake up call to Levy and the hierarchy though then nothing will be. This team/ squad barring a select few are utter ****. Get them the **** out and spend some damn money.
Royal, PEH and Doherty clearly aren't THFC level but I still think wait and judge some of them after the NLD. I never felt THFC went all in to win that tie but looking impressive against Liverpool. NLD will be a different vibe - against the arch enemy and in a competition that - in the wider scheme of things - matters more to the THFC hierarchy. The road to redemption for some of those players is really in that game.
I’m expecting a reaction for sure. Last few NLDs we just haven’t looked up to it so if the lads can’t give something in that game then things are more wrong than we ever realised. Højbjerg would be fine as a squad player but the truth of the matter right now is that he just looks knackered. He played nearly every minute of every game for a couple years so perhaps not surprising. I think he was also one of the ones who had Covid so it probably all adds up to him running like a supertanker. His passing has been way off too. Royal too is probably fine as a backup but doesn’t have the ability going forward. Doherty is just gash. Shocking signing. We’ve just got so few options. Tanguy and Dele seem to be personas non grata, Gio is fit less than half the time and rarely has any impact, Bergwijn never seems to be around. Injuries in defence just compound things too. There’s too many players in the squad who very very rarely do anything significant in a positive sense. You can do ok in football with a team who will reliably put in 6-7s/10 and a couple of star players to make the difference. We were within 90 minutes of a trophy last season with that exact situation. Obviously you don’t employ Conte just to do ok, but we’re so far off that baseline it’s shocking. There are 4-5 players in the squad who don’t even contribute.
Kessie, Modric, Kalvin Phillips and Jules Kounde would overnight improve your team (significantly IMO). Levy could easily acquire all of them for £50m net spend if he is prepared to make sales.
Home NLDs are different though - and it's the first one under the lights with a full crowd in that stadium. No motivation will be needed, it's up to Arsenal to rise to the challenge.
You wot m8? You been on the sauce? Phillips would cost £50m alone. Kounde just yesterday was being linked to you again for around £70m. He'll never sign a player going on 37. Kessie is an option, agreed. You seem to be under the impression that we have players we can sell for significant sums of money. Right now the only players worth north of £50m are Kane and Son.
Modric ain’t going anywhere mate, last quote I saw from Madrid about him basically said he has a lifetime contract there if he wants it. Kessie is more likely in the summer IMO, and like CK I don’t think the other two are anything like attainable given the lack of interest in the players we want to shift. This is the main issue - probably financially but definitely in terms of squad composition we desperately need to move players like Tanguy on, but nobody wants them. Can you blame them?! You should never need motivation for that game, fact is that against Arsenal, your lot, West Ham the last few years we’ve just looked totally insipid. Makes me miss Lamela, at least he could be relied on to get going in a big game (when he managed to make it on the pitch and stay there).
I think you could fetch £100m for Doherty/Ndombele/Royal/Lo Celso/PEH in today's market. Modric seems outlandish but he would be a good stop gap for a season (similar to Bale) and someone for Winks to learn from. I can't see Kounde going for that much, I think Sevilla's greed might cost them there.
The fact the club is looking at free transfers and players under £30million is an indication of the on the field ambitions. You can’t operate like that and expect to be able to compete for trophies or top 4 regularly if you don’t up the budget for players.
Isn’t Bissouma currently in trouble for sexual assault? Sounds like a bit of a danger to me. Nice footballer though I agree. Never seen Kessie play so can’t make a judgement really but everyone says he’s good. Tied up at AFCON for now though. Don’t know if that’s one who’ll move in the summer.
