I suppose when you think that he took over a team in abysmal form and in an even more abysmal position (for our stature), to now get fourth with 50 goals worth of talent missing, it would be pretty impressive.

I’d written the season off prior to Poch’s sacking. I gained some hope when we beat Villa and got to within 1 point of Chelsea as they’ve been flaky themselves but now without Son as well as Kane, I just can’t see us finishing there. If we can hold onto 5th/ 6th that’ll be “success” with regards to how I felt around November.

Go again in the summer with a full Jose pre-season and hopefully a few more of his own additions.

Oh! Ordinance Road. Haven't been there for over 40 years.....and I can't remember the name of my old closed pub in Turkey Street either.

I can't even remember Danny Blanchflower playing in my first game watching Spurs v A Villa in 1953. 1-0 own goal win by the way.

    You’re definitely over thinking it

Don’t under estimate the job on to get top 4 when our 2 best sources of goals are missing

No doubt Jose will tell a few of them that they are **** in the summer...because some of them are for what we want.

He won that club their last Domestic and last European trophy. He also managed them to their highest finish since Fergie left. He was spot on in lambasting Pogba aswell. He did nothing wrong at United...he twisted when the board wouldn’t back him and their fans in general seem to be struggling with their adjusted levels of expectancy and seem to think they are better than what he delivered...after that it’s fashionable to always turn on Jose

I’m just surprised it has taken a few months for the excuses to start.

Now he’s started, he won’t stop.

Jose knew the situation when he joined us and said he was happy with the squad ,now he's changed his mind ,I just wish he would stop moaning and get on with the job in hand, its his fault with the striker situation because parrot could have and should have had more minutes on the pitch but he prefers to play without a striker and then moan about it ffs <doh>. Not quite the special one now is he.we all knew this would end up like all his other jobs and fall out with the club, looks like it's starting already.

He was happy with the squad when he had Kane and Son

    <laugh>

    Oh dear

The behaviour reminds me of what we got with AVB as soon as he had stretched his legs under the managers desk...you have to wonder why.

He got no striker in January but let’s let that slide coz it’s on Levy. Yes he did say he didn’t need anyone...that shows he is infact not being disruptive. Certainly not as much as the Spurs fans are being

I wonder if today he will put a centre half up front as a targetman, you never know with jose but he always used to like a big lump up front to hold the ball up , maybe tanganga or dier ?

    It’s not though is it.

It’s the previous manager’s and the board’s for allowing such a **** show of a situation to happen at a club aiming to challenge in four competitions at the start of the season with just one striker.
It’s left fans like yourself crying out for an unproven 18 year old to try and save our season. That really isn’t on Jose, especially when he openly said he wanted a striker in the January window.

Really think we need some perspective here though, the chances of Parrott making any significant impact is extremely slim, when Kane was his age he was struggling against the likes of Hearts and PAOK for Spurs whilst he had mixed success when sent on loan down the lower leagues, yet Parrott is being expected to feature against Prem and CL opposition when his only start so far was a disappointing performance against Colchester where he was subbed off.

If he plays between now and the end of the season, good for him, I’d love it if he makes an impact but I really don’t think it’s fair to be blaming Jose if he doesn’t wanna throw a kid into the heat of the battle.

I'm fully ready for another Battle of the Bridge tbh, just a shame var would ruin it.

There's nothing like a derby to wash away the misery(until kick off at least :p ).

I agree it's not ideal to put parrot in now but the facts are he SHOULD have had more game time than he has ,little 20 minute cameos here and there instead of running players into the ground and he wouldn't be such a risk putting him on or even on the bench to come on late on.

I’d say the real fact is we should have another senior striker or never allowed Llorente to leave so easily.

I’d also argue that if we knew Llorente was leaving and no striker was coming in, the most senior academy striker should’ve been kept around - Sterling.

Plus, if Parrott was also desperate to play he’d have taken a leaf out of Ben Davies’ book and stayed at Hotspur Way to get some additional training sessions during the break. Instead he chose a lavish trip to Dubai where he drank booze with a drug lord’s son.

To put into perspective, Harry Kane doesn’t even drink alcohol. I’m not saying Parrott shouldn’t either but his antics doesn’t strike me as the type of person who’s looking to make an impression to get more chances in the first team.

Totally agree about llorente we should have kept him but as you say once we didnt sign a striker a couple of the youngsters should have been promoted to the first team squad. It's better to have 1 or 2 young strikers on the bench than have no strikers at all, just my opinion, but it seems ludicrous for jose to moan about it then not do anything about the situation.

But he obviously feels Parrott isn’t ready and based on his sole start against League Two opposition, I’d be inclined to agree.

Worth pointing out Pochettino was here from August til November and only gave Parrott one appearance, meaning he ran Kane into the ground prior to Jose’s arrival. He never got anywhere near the criticism Jose seems to be getting for not playing the same player. If two top managers seem reluctant at giving him chances surely that says they likely feel he’s not ready against quality opposition?

I don't think that it matters. Running more of our players into the ground will only worsen the situation.
Parrott should be used from the bench because we don't have any alternative.
Mourinho said himself that it's a specialist position and you can't just lump anyone in there.

Is Parrott ready? I don't know.
I watched his debut for Ireland, though and he didn't look out of his depth or overwhelmed by the situation.
A few minutes here and there in the Premier League probably isn't going to break him.

Parrott is only 4 months younger than Mason Greenwood

Look how Utd have used him compared to Spurs have Parrott

Playing for Ireland is like playing for a poor Championship/ good League One side though (sorry to any Irish on here <laugh>). International football isn’t the same level as Premier League or Champions League.

I also think it’s debatable as to whether the Prem would break him or not. It only takes a few appearances for fans to get an impression and if he fails to deliver he’ll instantly be deemed not good enough, it’s the nature of the game. For sure there’s the chance he could take it by storm but I think the chances of that happening are pretty slim.

I’d also go back to the previous point about his attitude. Is he really showing the signs of someone desperate to make an impression? Drinking booze in Dubai at a time where he could’ve made an impression while Spurs are without their talisman could’ve earned him huge brownie points with Jose.

For me if both managers have been reluctant to play him I feel I have to trust their judgement.
