Dembele charged, as expected. Could be looking at a long ban unless he's got a credible defense of any kind.

Quite interested to hear what you thought Costa should have sent off for.

Personally think Lamela, Dier and Walker could have been sent off as well as Dembele.

What was Costas 3 red card offences? You can't argue with Dembele, and you're probably lucky that Lamela hasn't been charged either.

Costa was clearly caught on camera throwing his elbow at Vertonghen twice and then trying to put his head in on the Belgian.
The commentators all called it and discussed it at the time, so it's not just me, before you start.
All of the subsequent media ****e has been about us though, so the FA have done their lazy usual.

Well the punishment I guess should be at least what Torres got for the WHL incident
(1 match ban for the red, and whatever else the FA put on top at the time) .

He was sent off for something else and didn't get any additional games.

I am saying that if the FA deducted the red he got for that game, then Dembeles'
punishment must still total what Torres got.

But you are saying that Torres got nothing additional for the hands to the face ??

Torres didn't get a ban for gouging Vertonghen's face.
They said that an official had seen the earlier part of the incident, so they couldn't punish him.

Mr Clattenberg not mentioned? No doubt that the 2 clubs and Mousa have no defence but Mr Clattenberg's performance was truly bizarre. It was his responsibility to ensure order was kept and all he did was abdicate responsibility and encourage anarchy. A Mavis Reilly of a performance.

they have been ranked, that means the numerical collected data has been analyzed and interpreted, the exact definition of a statistic.

He's been given the FA Cup final and a trip to the Euros as penance. Poor bastard.

That is what I was pointing out earlier. The ref saw the foul that Torres did on Verts and booked him for it but didn't see the gouge, thus (we thought) giving the FA free reign to retrospectively punish Torres. However in their wisdom and deeply flawed logic they then decided that the gouge was part of the same incident so was covered by the original punishment. From this we could argue:

    1. If you get booked for kicking someone, providing the ref is not looking you can then gouge them without punishment (!)
    2. The punishment for a kick and a gouge is apparently sufficient as a yellow card (so let's see how many matches Dembele gets banned for).
    3. If the original incident was not seen by the ref, the FA can then take retrospective action. Except when they don't want to.
    4. The FA clearly didn't have the balls to stand up to the then Chelski manager, proving it's one rule for some teams and another rule for others.
    5. Don't expect any media to refer back to the Torres incident because they would then have to deal with the implications mentioned above.

As Sky pointed out at half time, the assistant referee was looking directly at the incident, and stood about 1 metre away. How can that referee retain any professional legitimacy if he claims 'not to have seen it'...?

Clatterfuck himself is stood a whole 20cm away, what on earth was Dembele thinking...

He wasn't. Totally wound-up and unaware of anyone other than Costa.
If you're looking around for match officials first, you are an utter cheat.
