Cheers SD. Come on City because I don't think Spurs will have a team to field on the weekend. I was going to suggest a line up of Lioris in goal and Vorm in defence, but I think Vorm is getting banned too . Bless him, ****ing proud of this squad.
If Arsenal go into administration and they test the pizza in Leicester for steroids we'll only need one more point. It's not over yet, lads
Huth's been charged with violent conduct versus Man U. They could get docked points.......well they couldn't really but I just got caught up in No Kane's enthusiasm.
Do any spurs fans feel this is a fair representation of you and Leicester this season have to go little Leicester needs burping.
Class Smithy, class. you can buy trophies but you can't buy class. They will always be scumbags. It's like the difference between a rich whore and a beautiful princess.
Good quote from Cahill too it seems the players look at it very differently to the media and the supporters - Cahill, said he enjoyed the ferocity of the match. He told the London Evening Standard: ‘When there is that much at stake, people aren’t going to roll over, it’s competitive. That’s the way it is. We should enjoy the game for what it was. ‘I thought the game was fantastic and played at an unbelievable pace. It boiled over at times because of what’s at stake, they were going for the league. ‘The emotion was just there. It’s normal to react, but when everything has settled down, when it’s calm, it’s finished.’ Don't think that anyone will take any notice but good to see. Also see that there are reports that Dembele could get a 10 match ban! That would be seriously bad news when you look at our record without him this season
Considering Suarez got 10 games for biting an opponent (Ivanovic) and only 8 for racially abusing Evra, if dembele gets 10 for poking someone in the eye that has to be seen as ridiculously excessive.
I am angry, very angry and whilst what you say PNP is extremely reasonable and sensible it does nothing to address the real problem IMO. More and more in top football I witness snide, cheating behavior being rewarded with titles and trophies. The way Chelsea behaved in that match goes unpunished and yet they clearly caused the eventual explosion from our players. We reacted, and the key word is REACTED, If Chelsea had played the game according to the rules and morals of the game there would have been nothing to REACT against. Spurs have spent the season playing attractive football in the true spirit of the game. Then we come up against cynical play such as we witnessed from West Brom and Chelsea and everyone says we were wrong to react. Deli Alli was wrong Mousa Dembelle was wrong and they will be punished so says almost everyone. How about the people who CAUSED these reactions being held to account. As far as I am concerned it is people like Pullis and Costa who should be facing the music for bringing the game into disrepute not the victims of their cynicism. If you push me, kick me, and trip me and then fake innocence I will react and it wont be by appealing to your reason. As Spurcat has said the hostility of the Chelsea team and their fans was taken to another level. This is not sport this is sanctioned thuggery more akin to the Roman Games. If this is what the media wants then lets make it clear and lets sign Charlie Adam and Robert Huth immediately so that we can properly compete oh!, and add some fighting training for Deli Alli to make the most of his natural aggression, or next time leave the ball in the dressing room and let's just kick **** out of the bastards. The media would love that.
Dembele should get a ban no doubt but it does bring back memories of perhaps the biggest cop-out in the history of FA (non-)punishment when Torres received no action against him at all for doing the same to Vertonghen (ironically going in favour of Chelsea, again). It will reek of double standard hypocrisy when Dembele gets his rightful ban, and of course, I haven't heard the media mention it at all. It was all to do with that awful thing about the ref having or having not seen anything, which the FA choose to use when its convenient to them. For example, if the player deserves a longer ban but the ref gave a yellow, then he saw it so no more punishment is needed (unless they need to break their own rule when it suits them). So when Torres gouged Vertonghen you think, well the ref didn't see it so the FA are clear to throw the book at him but no - the FA said it was part of an earlier incident which the ref did see - WTF? Is that one of the most ludicrous cop-outs in the history of cop-outs? So why do I mention this other than to remind people of the inconsistency of the FA (to suit them and perhaps to suit certain clubs)? Because I would argue that the linesman actually saw the Dembele incident as it was right by him, and if he saw it and no punishment was deemed necessary at the time then the FA, by their own rules, should say it was 'dealt with' during the match. Of course they won't, so I wait to see what today's level of hypocrisy is. And BTW agree with everything Spurf has said above about the real instigators never getting appropriate punishment. Edit: One more thing, if the Torres gouge was part of the earlier incident which the ref punished within the match (which was a bad tackle), the FA at the time therefore deemed the correct combined punishment for a bad tackle and eye gouging was a booking. They did not feel it necessary to add additional punishment. So what is the justification for giving Dembele a multi-match ban? Sure it deserves it, but then they would effectively be admitting they were wrong with Torres.
I took a day out to get over the disappointment of Monday night. For me, it's not that we drew and that draw feels like a loss. It's not that it was against Chelsea and that living in the heart of their support in South London, I live at no 668 Hell St. right now. I am the neighbour of the beast. It isn't that they 'stopped us from winning the title' as that ship sailed last week and probably before that. I can take that, as I know that we are an infinitely better club with better players, staff and supporters on a level infinitely above theirs. Yes, Clattenberg got it all wrong. He should have warned all concerned he wouldn't hold back in issuing red cards and then stamped on the early bad challenges. If he didn't see the behaviour of some players coming then that is incredibly naïve. The ultimate cheat and actor, Costa? The 'Phantom Pizza Flinger', Fabregas? Terry, who may not be a racist as he only uses racist language when he thinks it can't be seen? These players could start fights in empty rooms and would stand on their drowning children's heads to get to that room. Going into the media to build it up as they did, didn't help but this is supposedly a top referee. There needed to be red cards to sort things out. There weren't and he contributed to what followed by losing the players' respect. This game was always going to be spicy. A few days ago, I said, that in the 60's and 70's this would have been settled out on the pitch with some really tasty challenges. I'm all for the game being physical provided nobody goes out to deliberately injure an opponent. I can accept that in the heat of battle, tempers will be lost and from time-to-time fights will break out. I can't promise that I wouldn't react if someone spat in my face. Fabregas went around hitting our players in the groin in the after game. There can be only 2 options: 1. Take it. As a professional you take it. Next time you play against him you sort it and him out by, fairly, nailing him until he cries. 2. Be a man and twat the son of a bitch. I am very upset by some of our players behaving like a load of women wrestlers. Eye gouging? If we're going to lose it on the pitch, be a man and hit the bloke with a fist. I'd prefer it didn't happen at all but...a few years ago, someone asked Jimmy Greaves about him falling out of love with the game. His complaint was that he couldn't see grown men cheating and behaving like women or children. Unfortunately, that's where we ended up. We need to accept the bans and anything else meted out in punishment and learn to react as professionals or men.
Spurs are pretty high up in the fair play table, in fouls committed they are 2nd only to Crystal palace so I think you might want to review this comment. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/fairnesstabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2015/plus/1 Of course you could always delete this comment, like you did the other night even though I was only remarking about a football match on a match thread dedicated to that match, maybe it was because I disagreed with other posters and was considered a wum, in your words.
You were clearly a wum and if you are going to start again you can go right now. I am not interested in your stats or your views but other may be and as long as you don't go on the wind up you are welcome to post.
Clearly a Wum? I merely thought that Tottenham played some dirty football and was commenting on the match I had just seen. The facts bear out, your team has committed more fouls than every other club bar one this season. I understand you love your club and think they play great football, I agree they do, some of it has been sublime, but they are a physical team with it, you can't deny this surely.
I am sorry thats a prattish comment it does mean something, but theres no context, we have I would suggest made alot more tackles and challenges than many other teams in the league and as such we are likely to commit more fouls than teams that stand off.
there's no will by refs or the higher football authorities to do what is neccessasry to stamp the **** out of the game, hasn't been for a long time. They'd rather card someone for taking their shirt off than for blatant cheating. When refs come up against players like McCarthy, Huth, Felleini and Costa they let them get away with thier bullshit just so they don;t have to blow the whistle for a foul every 2 mins. Huth is probably the worst culprit, if refs played 'by the book' he'd give away a penalty at every corner.
It's not a single statistic, every club has a total. If one applied variables to it eg; which referees were at which games would be the control, but there are very few others that could be used, then the figure could possibly be less in the mean, but it would still be a pretty fair indication of the facts as they are.
As I repeatedly say, letting people on football forums near statistics is akin to letting small children near a tray of sharp kitchen implements. For someone like me who does stats in their day job, the basic statistics *** are quite unremarkable re Spurs. Only the events of yesterday (which was a rarity) , produced significance on the yellow card front. *** Deviation from the mean on total fouls/yellows, fouls per PL game etc.
