Should be a good game (probably end up 0-0 as neither want to lose), but our (Chelsea's) biggest potential loss at the weekend could be Ramires. Came off in the midweek game with a minor injury. Against what you've got to offer, he will be vitally important. I think in most of the other areas on the pitch, we have enough direct replacements/cover, but missing Ramires sitting in front of our box (with the energy to run box-to-box for the whole game) could be a nightmare.
Spurs have created more goalscoring opportunities (74) in the five matches played so far than any other Premier League club this season... please log in to view this image ...But our goal conversion rate of just 6.8% is the worst in the League
THFC - just shows that you can do what you like with stats. The same facts presented in different ways can make it look good OR bad....that's why politicians love figures & statistics. If the above factored in some sort of multiple/division against that based on the position in the league of the opposition, whether it was home/away etc., it might tell a truer story. But, let's face it, all that matters in the W/L/D and points on the table. Looking forward to the game - really can't call it
I hate you both equally . I think the hatred between fans in general is much stronger between us and Spurs than us and Arsenal though.
I really like Ramires but I'd breathe a sigh of relief if he was out of this game. He wasn't at his best last season but he's Jose's kind of player and I'm sure he'll get the best out of him.
It would be Lampard and Mikel/Essien if he's out? Van Ginkel is out and Lampard and Mikel don't suit each other. Can imagine Dembele/Sandro and Paulinho running rings round them and Eriksen getting a bit of space to do his stuff.
Just to double that conversion ratio to 15% (which would still be average) , would put our goals for into double figures. You get the feeling that when it clicks, some poor opponent might be looking at conceding 10 goals. The Spanners perhaps.
If anyone wants to see Andre's pre match news conference, it is in the attached link http://addictedtospurs.co.uk/?page_id=14 Looks to me like the Maureen v AVB is being over hyped, doesn't sound like he was very bitter to me, just that he had to go his own way as Mourinho didn't want to promote him. Also wish they would mike the questions. Andre speaking about a player being back (half way through) and I couldn't hear who they were talking about (Lennon possibly). Ade has been "ill" but will be training with the 1st team from Monday and Capoue will be back after the International break. Almost ready to start training. All round, looking good on injuries. Chadli is available for selection now, having played as sub against Villa.
Another slightly odd part of those shot stats is that our accuracy is joint highest in the league, along with Swansea. We've hit far too many right at the keeper, unfortunately.
How many of those shots at goal were by Townsend trying to score the goal of the season? 20? 30? 40? I wouldn't read too much into those stats, especially after so few games.
Going into tomorrow's Chelsea game, Tottenham Hotspur have lost just 1 of their last 17 home matches at the Lane... please log in to view this image ...and we've kept consecutive clean sheets in our last 6 home games.
There's a piece in the Standard documenting the animosity between the two clubs: http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...e-london-rivals-just-dont-get-on-8844263.html ...that, whilst pretty much underlining it is entirely due to Chelsea being a classless bunch, neglects to mention the anti-Semetic chants of their fans - some of whom then accuse Spurs fans of anti-semitism without seeing how moronic it makes them look.
How the Chavs still say 3point lane is beyond me,maybe because i'm not a moron ,they have only won once in the last 8 years there, hardly something to boast about
With any luck, this will mean David Baddiel was last seen skidding down Paxton Road on his backside: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/important-message-for-all-fans-ahead-of-chelsea-270913/
I don't get the obsession with "class" in football, what is it? And what relevance does a bunch of boneheads in their teens shouting anti-Semitic abuse have now? Those men are probably in their 50s now and don't reflect the club as a whole.
Given it still happens now, that either means there's fans in their 50s doing it, or a new generation (or two) that have taken up the mantle.
