Chelsea STILL living on their luck. I've just seen the highlights and yes a hand ball led to their goal just like Drogba's arm last season and a good goal disallowed. Chelsea have had A LOT of luck this season and run out it soon will. I'm not bitter because forwards should take easy chances. We must get back to winning ways next match. Chelsea play Fulham......no idea of the result but coyf.

....is that the **** patch with Wilshere and Sagna!...I'm looking forward to their return more than you then. :)

You're not the only club with injuries, so give that one a rest.

Fair result, we need another striker, we are way too reliant on Ade, who has been great for us.

VDV needs a rest, so sad this hamstring is curtailing his effectiveness.

I think Webb got it right on Cole's handball, but on another day, another ref .....

Thankfully Webb didn't send Ade off, despite the attempts of the Chelsea players to achieve this. Ade was acting well silly in the first half, and could easily have got aa second half, maybe Harry had a word, as he was much more disciplined second half.

I understand it was a fine margin for the offside, but how about giving attackers the 'benefit of the doubt'?

Chelsea are a very good team, expensively assembled both in terms of fees and wages. We'll do amazingly well to finish above them. I'd take a 4th placed finish now, no danger.

I think he got them both right actually. The rules are very clear that handball must be deliberate and the interpretaion guidelines say:
"Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into consideration:
    • the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
    • the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
    • the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an
    infringement"

neither Cole nor Benny handled deliberately.

I think it would make more sense if the law was changed so that gaining advantage from an accidental handball was an indirect freekick

The starting team was the one I wanted - the formation definitely wasn't - VdV needs to have a freer role and Parker needs to cover the right back area

Just seen the disallowed goal on SSN.

We could have won the game. If Webb called all the handballs correctly - I hate this ball-to-hand rubbish - we would have won.

I feel really disappointed this morning, even after looking at the table. The injuries are the last thing we needed in this busy time too.

Agreed, under the current law Webb was correct on the handballs, so that would count in his credit from any assessor of his competence. The law may need changing.

Like PS, I think Harry got the starting line up right, but maybe we don't know how to play Sandro and Parker together properly yet. VDV's current ineffectiveness is as much a blow as Lennon's absence.

I think having called it right v Sunderland, you can see why Harry went for Pav again. It was a wrong call, these things happen.

It was a fair result - we dominated the early stages, Chelsea dominated the middle and then it was pretty even at the end.

Overall - Chelsea had slightly more clear cut chances but we certainly deserved a point.

We're a different side w/o Lennon and VdV (again) was completely anonymous on the right (albeit with his injury). The side was imbalanced with Sandro and Parker along with Modric being put on the right.

Pav showed the other side of his game last night by being completely anonymous as well (I actually forgot he was playing at times).

Need to get people fit and strengthen key areas in January.

Cover for Lennon and a new striker please Mr Redknapp and Levy - along with some deadweight leaving.

I would have thought that Pav NOT being anonymous would be the exception. Should have been shipped out long ago. We don't have the strength in depth that others, like Chelsea, have - but then we don't have their vast amounts of cash, so we are obviously going to suffer when key performers are injured.

    ****ing disgraceful, spineless refereeing again.

Never a freekick in the lead up to Chelsea's goal, ridiculous handball and just seen Adebayor was robbed again when 2 yards onside. Their equaliser changed the game, up until then they were ****ting themselves as we were going to leave them looking very silly.

Another season where Chelsea don't score a legitimate goal against us? Probably.

Does anyone know what Adebayor was booked for? Didn't look like he did anything, did he mouth off?

He stepped on someone's toes, if I remember right.
    Ridiculously cheap booking.

One other decision that seems to have gone unnoticed was when Sandro was taken out on the edge of their box.
Bosingwa (I think) failed to notice him coming in for the ball and just kneed him, knocking him over.
Didn't even get a free-kick, for some reason.

Forgot about that, I think the referee took the opinion that the ball wasn't going anywhere. He found it very easy to protect Chelsea all game.

Shame we had to give that shower a point and lose two ourselves.I would say we are out of the running for the top two now.
Well, there's always the Europa League....oh no! That's our reserves league.....and were out of that as well!
FA Cup?Will that be a reserve competition too?
Remember the good old days when our first team could play all season long with a few injuries? Now....they are injured all the time, most of them!
Are todays footballers a load of softies or what????

No. I do remember 96-97, where the outfield player with the most appearances played something like 14 games.
(I may be exaggerating - it might have been 17...)

That averages out at a goal a game for that season...
