What's more annoying is that they are perfectly capable of playing great football. They have some very talented players, and a squad with real depth - apart from in defence. Winning is all that counts to Mourinho, and yes, he doesn't care how he does it. I always k ew that the first goal in this game would be crucial. Due to a combination of poor defending and the usual Chav luck ( it would have to be that **** Terry too! ) they got it. We had to get back at them quickly, but this time Maureen shut the shop up and played the rest of the game on the counter.
It was all quite similar to the game at Stamford Bridge in away. We were on top when we conceded the opener in both matches and in the second half Chelsea just shut up shop and put defence first on all 11 player's duties. They've made things difficult for some of the best sides in the World when they shut up shop like that so I think we can be pleased with the way we rallied at the end, which didn't happen at Stamford Bridge. It's always frustrating to play a side like that, especially when they have so much money and talent available to them. They can argue that it works and that they're playing to their biggest strength and we can argue that we enjoy football for the entertainment, which is greater when you have two sides taking risks and attacking. We'll get nowhere in the end with that debate as we all know where everyone stands.
Yes we do have subsidies and we do not play on a level playing field with many of our opposition but at least we play good football. Chelsea are boring to watch, disliked AND have spent a fortune to win trophies. We also have an illustrious history to fall back on Only Chelsea fans like Chelsea, which is fair enough but whether you like it or not, no one will remember this Chelsea team fondly. Much like no one talks about the Porto team Mourinho managed. I was very glad when Mourinho left us because he was slowly turning us into a team as boring as Chelsea to watch.
