Sometimes I wish we would kick off like other teams do...poch was really restrained on sunday after kane should have got a penalty...I kind of admire him taking it on the chin but then it seems to just allow refs to keep doing it. Martin jol was the same and so was redknapp and we just kept getting absolutely shocking decisions agsinst us against us v city, united, the goons, chelsea and liverpool. Lost count of goals given when they aint crossed the line, penalties given against us, players wrongly sent off, penalties not given to us, wrong offsides, wrongly disallowed goals, offside goals given against us, opp players not sent off when they should of been etc. We went 2 yrs not getting a penalty at whl and a whole season not getting one. Bad decisions may even themselves out generally across the board but they don't when it comes to the big clubs.
Moss and then Dowd. We sure do draw the short straw when it comes to refs to the big games. Chelsea have no love for Dowd after the United match though, lets just hope he's not out to make up for it this time.
Chelsea whine about refs and they get apologies. We have appalling decisions in big games and the refs are punished by being given more of our big games. Ridiculous stuff.
I think RCL may have a point. It seems that the managers who shout and moan the most get the better decisions for their team. Fergie, Mourinho, and Whinger likes to have a good moan.
We could have had one or two goals at the Bridge before individual mistakes let down what was looking like a decent away performance against the league leaders a few weeks ago. We began to fall apart after we conceded, especially the second, but this team looks like getting mentally stronger every game it plays together IMO. If we got something out of this game I'd be very happy, I think we'll need to score to get a point or more but this Chelsea team isn't invulnerable by any means. 4 or more points against Leicester away, United and then Chelsea isn't too shabby a return for us, considering our record against the latter two and our past tendency to drop points in situations like the Leicester game.
Twice last season we had players incorrectly sent off and penalties awarded against Chelsea and City, two massive game changing decisions in big games. Then there was Dowd giving a penalty against us when Joe Allen did his dying swan act at WHL earlier in the season with us well in the game at 0-1, you will rarely see these kind of shockingly bad decisions going against the Pool`s and United`s of this world in particular. Our long list of horrendous refereeing going against us is never ending, and will take a complete about turn in fortune for at least 5 years before it ever comes anywhere near close to evening itself out. I fully expect the Chavs to be gifted a dodgy penalty when Spurs play them after Moanrinho`s whining.
After watching the Top Gear Patagonia Special, I wonder if Lamela has any friends in Ushuaia he can invite to give the Chelsea bus a warm welcome...

If I were the coach (a scary thought), I might try to do what Southampton did, more or less: run harder and tackle more often. Southampton and Spurs are 1-2 in tackles this season. Erikson has run the fourth farthest distance in PL games this year. (Fabregas is #1). It's an important game for both sides. Chelsea can't afford many winless streaks if they want to win the PL title. Spurs need to show improvement against top teams. A couple of draws against Arsenal and Man U is more than we had to show for last year against top four sides, but we haven't beaten a top team since Man City the year before last. Add to that the fact that both teams are favored to get to the final in the League Cup, and it gets even more interesting. In the US, where intimidating referees generally isn't done because it backfires (US refs have the admirable custom of penalizing anyone who rubs them the wrong way), you still get coaches and managers and players mouthing off like Mourinho. The two benefits are building a bunker mentality, which always seems to help, and, a little more subtly, taking pressure off everyone else. Joe Namath guaranteed the 20 point underdog Jets would win the Super Bowl partly because it meant all the media focus would be on him, and the rest of the team could relax a bit.

Okay, Man u could have been out of sight in the first half, so I guess he sort of has a point. But if the game had been officiated fairly (and nothing else changed, which it would have), we would have won by a couple. More to the point, maybe, it was a drawn game with almost exactly equal everything. A draw which deserved to be a draw is the worst you could say. I’m starting to like him running down Spurs every week, though. I guess it keeps him off street corners.
I don't think Man U have anything to be proud on in their performance at WHL. They missed some chances for sure, and who's fault is that, but we could have had a penalty, should have in fact. The bias of the commentating was extreme with the match commentator only interested in one side. It was clear from his vocal gymnastics and the content that he considered Spurs to be some sort of upstarts. On the last two seasons there are no grounds to consider that United are a better team than Spurs and their spoiling tactics and cheating ,whenever we made a forward move, was disgraceful for a team with their clout. Is that Van Galls style? If so I am not at all impressed and the officials should be clamping down on them. Rooney blatantly hauled down Kane and then headed the ball that Kane would have had a chance at a goal with. No excuse, nothing mistimed or accidental just blatant cheating, disgusting.
Over the last 2 seasons there was little difference between us and United . This season they are on another planet , the players they have signed , we could only dream about. They have weaknesses but over time they will sort it out . We peaked 3 years ago and it took 1/4 of a century to get there , but all said there was not the will At the top to go for glory . We have moved backwards and they are know back where their owners want them .
Despite FFP, it's still a case of the haves & the have nots. Apparently, City are favourites to sign Bony ( if indeed he is allowed to go anywhere in Jan ) because of the current injury problems with their main strikers they apparently feel that they need another striker to remain in contention. It seems that they can afford to just casually lay out £30mil for a quick replacement. We, of course, cannot. Swansea, because they have had Bony's £19mil buyout clause removed from his contract, will be very reluctant to sell in mid-season. If they do, you can bet that Jenkins will screw the buyer very hard for every last penny.
I feel the same way about this match as I felt about the Utd match. I posted that Villa drawing with Utd gave me the hope that if they could draw then so could we. So if Newcastle can beat Chelsea and Saints draw then so can we get a result.
