Who should skipper the team tomorrow night, in the absence of Son, Maddison and Romero?
    I'd opt for Davies.

    Vicario for me.

Davies is the model professional whom many could learn from but not really leader in my opinion.

Vicario’s already shown as being extremely vocal with all teammates. I also think that Ange’s choice of vice captains in Maddison and Romero is a solid choice to help usher in a new era of thinking, Vicario being a stand-in for those would keep in line with that new era too.

Ben Davies has captained Wales recently, although the main takeaway from that is why the FAW made him vice captain to the habitually injured Aaron Ramsey

Disagree. He's very well-respected by players and management alike, is a great example as always gives 100% and is also surprisingly vocal on the pitch.
Will be interesting to see who Ange goes for....

I agree with everything you’ve said there barring the “surprisingly vocal” part, he does what most others do in that regard; bark an instruction here and there but he’s not a guy to rally the troops nor influence many on the pitch with his play and actions. Generally speaking I also think captains need to be one of the upper tier players too, as their quality alone can help inspire others on the pitch to raise their game. I think that’s why despite being here for near a decade he was overlooked for vice captaincy for Maddison who’d just arrived and Romero who probably still doesn’t speak English too well. They have more of a personality both vocally as well as how they play and are two of our best players too, players will watch and play alongside them and be inspired by it.

Everything else you said is exactly why I’d say he’s a model pro.

He probably will captain the team tomorrow for what it’s worth, just wouldn’t personally be my pick as I think Vicario’s already become a huge personality, has been seen in montages barking loads of instructions to his defence and gives the team so much confidence at the moment in goal due how to how brilliant he’s been.

Hack ITK 'Ange getting sacked once Spurs exit the FA cup' ...

"Postecoglou will get his next — and almost certainly the only — chance
to lead Tottenham to a trophy when they host Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday morning"

OK - I don't disagree largely with your requirements for Captain-qualities, but based on the fact that we are WITHOUT Sonny, Madders and Romero, who is next best suited for the role, which after all is the situation we face now?
Not a fan of keepers as skippers. Even with his elevated profile, I don't think Lloris ever convinced me as an influencer. So that rules out Vic for me.
Who's left? Porro? Possibly, but after that we have no established regular starters to look to.
Hojbjerg shouts a lot but more in disgust at his own teammates and the refs than in any positive way - and he's likely out the door in a week or two.
    Skipp - nah!
Kulusevski? Possible, but still very young and needs to focus on his own game.
That probably only leaves......Lo Celso, Richarlison or Emerson! <laugh>

Anyways... we'll soon find out

Strange that everyone seems to be overlooking Bentancur to wear the armband.

But I'd personally give it to Davies, he thoroughly deserves it and is now the club's longest serving player. A consummate professional.

    I’d like

    Vic
    Porro Phillips Davies Udogie
    Bentancur Skipp Lo Celso
    Kulu Richy Johnson

I’m assuming we won’t risk VdV starting as I believe he’s had a few sessions this week but maybe we’ll see him off the bench for 20mins or so to stretch those legs. I’d like to see Donley, Scarlett, maybe Santiago on the bench and minutes if we can but the most important thing is to win. The most likely young player to see is Dane IMO.

Davies a no-brainer as captain in that group tbh.

Again, agree with practically all you’ve said, lol.

None of the others on that list are who I’d consider as candidates other than Vicario for me. Bentancur would also be an option too but not sure if he’ll definitely start though despite getting 60 mins the other day, will have to see how he recovered after the match.

I do think Davies will get the armband for the game. It’s just I’d personally go with something a bit more fresh that’s in line with Ange’s VC options and who have a bit more personality to suit Ange’s style of play.

It probably matters little who actually wears it though, they’re simply just keeping it warm for a bit.

I think I'd assumed that he wouldn't be starting but yes, if he did then it would be an option! :emoticon-0148-yes:

Nice home draw so tonight should be a routine win.
