Someone pointed out a couple of Burnley fans being escorted out to me during the game. Turns out that they were doing Nazi salutes and they've been nicked. Shame.
Today was all about winning, the ridiculous scheduling of this fixture always made it more of a banana skin, but we were deserved winners I don't care if the penalty was nailed on or soft the ref gave it and Harry did his bit. So often in the past we have dropped these points now the pressure is on the goons but I Still expect them to get the win and for it to go to the final game with them ahead.
Thought he had a good game, despite lots of passes to him being placed behind him. Hopefully he can have a good pre-season and stay fit more often in the next campaign.
I just wish he would be more adventurous, take on the defender outside more. He did that couple of times 2nd half and it worked well. With Roberts on a card for 60 minutes, we should have been targeting him and Sess would have been the best one to do that. And although young, he's 22 this week and several years PL experience. We can't hide him behind the 'he's just a kid' excuse for much longer.
Half-time guest for this one was a very well received Jermain Defoe, by the way. I assume something's happening there, though I missed a lot of what he was saying.
I'd be very disappointed if he's first choice LWB next season. Such a top bloke and I was excited to sign him but I've seen very, very little of to suggest he's a top four player.
It was said on Twitter that he mentioned he'd been speaking to the club about a coaching role. Yaya and Defoe involved in the U18s next season? Not a bad pair of players for the younger lads to learn from.
Can't see why people think the penalty was soft or harsh. His arm was out from his body and the ball clearly hits it. Seems nailed on to me under current rules.
The NowTV option worked well, but putting up with BT commentary is a bridge too far. Hoddle left all his skills on the pitch I am afraid. As a co-commentator he is embarrassing. And the fellah with him wasn't much better
Hoddle remains the most talented spurs player I have ever seen live. He was a truly world class player and it says everything about English football in the 1970s and 80s that he was only capped 53 times (10 as a sub). They should have built the team around him and Bryan Robson imho. As a coach, he was highly rated for his tactical knowledge but as a man manager he was appalling imho and this caused him problems at England, Chelsea, Swindon and spurs. As a commentator he ranks as being as boring, pointless and crap as; 1. His singing 2. Steve Mcnananansnananamanananan 3. Micheal Owen
Journalists confirming all of Hugo, Gollini, Kulu and Winks ate a dodgy lasagne (?) and had a stomach bug. That goes some way to explaining why Winks wasn't used at all. It also explains why Gollini kept standing up and wandering around the dugout.
Winks only did one quick warmup during the game, IIRC. I thought he'd get on for Bentancur when it was clear that the Uruguayan was hurt. This explains why he wasn't used. Bentancur did complete the post-match stuff (with his pregnant missus) and he seemed fine. Had a massive ice-pack on his shin, though.
